We aim for our guests to have a wonderful and memorable visit, so we were sorry to hear of your disappointment and that your stay was just ‘pleasant’. In our 17 years of renting at Wintergreen, this is first time we have had such a challenge in communicating with a guest. We always check-in with guest prior to their stay and call the house the arrival day to answer questions and do all we can for an excellent stay. The guest did not respond to our phone calls – only sending an email saying everything was fine… So, it surprised us to hear on the 4th day of a 7-day stay that the house was now ‘dirty,’ and the guest wanted a refund for duration of stay. We called, our maintenance owner called, and he would only respond via email. We sent our cleaning company ASAP to the house to address the concern; we learned what was ‘dirty’ was one hair in a shower, one bathroom floor not clean enough and that one toilet which hadn’t been flushed. Our cleaning company immediately re-cleaned the house (even made beds etc.) to ‘make it right.’ We even provided a partial refund, even though our cleaning and maintenance companies suggested that the complaint was out of context. With regards to the pool access, again with proper communication we would have been able to tell the guest that the pool was indeed open every day, 2 -8 pm (new COVID hours). We wish the guest the very best and a wonderful rest of the year; we recommend for any future VRBO stays to that he directly/better communicate with the accommodation owner for a better outcome for all.
