We were allocated a lovely, double aspect room with a view over the pool. The first impression was, however, spoiled by the receptionist/Bellman who showed us to our room - it was a hot day, his personal hygiene needed to be enhanced accordingly so he left a very unpleasant odour in our room. The hallways and rooms need refreshing.
The hallway to our room smelled more like a hospital than a hotel. We think that an elderly or sick relative was living in the room below and the distinctive smell of the medication being used or the antiseptic care being provided permeated the whole wing. Whilst it's laudable to look after one's elderly, perhaps housing this person in a different room or not using that wing of the hotel (which was extensive) for guests would be best.
The food in the restaurant, whilst good, was not best value for money.
