If you are looking at this review, the #1 thing I want you to know is that St. Martin is thriving again after Hurricane Irma took her best shot at the island. We had no issues with transportation, tourism, shopping, sight-seeing, etc. My family & I have been coming to St. Martin for almost 10-years & we were able to do everything that we wanted to do while in St. Martin in December of 2018. Maho Beach is just as great as it always was! Phillipsburg was great, as usual. Stop by Ballerina Jewelers & see Ravi – he will offer you something “almost free!” ;-)
The #2 thing that I want you know is that if you’re looking at this rental, BOOK IT! You will not be disappointed!
The booking process with Sharon & John was a breeze. I was mailed a welcome packet prior to our arrival with any information that I could possibly need.
We did not utilize the parking spot, but it was right in front of the building if we did want to use it. In my opinion, St. Martin drivers are a little different, so I wouldn’t want to rent a car on the island, but that’s just me. We have never had any trouble getting where we’re going using the local bus system or local taxi’s. The bus only costs $1.50 per person, so you can’t go wrong! We’ve also never felt over-charged getting a taxi.
You can walk to everything you would need. We walked to markets/grocery stores for anything we needed. Since you are walking, it would be wise to take your own bags with you if you intend to buy a lot of stuff at the grocery store or market.
We walked to all meals every day. I highly recommend The Karakter (short walk on the beach) for meals or drinks. I also recommend Isola, Toppers, Pineapple Pete’s, The Greenhouse & The Buccaneer, which are just a short walk away.
One of the best things about this condo is that it was filled with perks. (shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, shaving cream) They had all kinds of pool noodles, goggles, flippers, etc. for swimming. The TV was already hooked up to Netflix. The WiFi had no trouble with like 10 devices hooked up to it. Huge bin of dishwashing detergent so that we could run the dishwasher as many times as needed.
Another super nice thing is that the people before us left some beers in the fridge, which you’re encouraged to leave what you don’t use. We had a bunch of stuff leftover when we left (beers, sodas, bottled waters, etc.) & we left it all there for the next guests!
