Duped and taken advantage of....
I rarely write reviews. But this was such a bad experience I have no choice.
We booked our stay in early January of 2024 for March arrival. A couple weeks before we are supposed to check in, I received an email stating there was construction nearby. I was disappointed by this and would have chosen to stay elsewhere had I known. I spoke with the handyman on the property and he informed me the construction started in early January. So the KNEW about the construction BEFORE I booked, but chose NOT to say anything and to wait until ~2 weeks prior to my stay to contact me.
They offered to upgrade us to a "penthouse". The so-called penthouse was TINY and the ocean view was that of a full on construction site -- not much ocean view. There was nothing penthouse about it. It was a WORSE accommodation and NOT what I paid for. The accommodation did not match the photos of what we booked, and was absolutely TINY -- way smaller than the suite we booked originally. Plus a ridiculous electricity limitation was imposed which gave us anxiety to have to pay extra money if we go over (use the AC etc).
Also we had neighbors so close (on the balcony) it felt like we were sharing the room with them. The smoke alarms were beeping due to low battery. So we had to remove the batteries ourselves and sleep two nights without this safety feature. Everything at Blue Bay is focused on residents. Pool residents only. They even charge fees for beach access. AVOID THIS PROPERTY. POOR ETHICS BY OWNERS
