A pleasant boutique style hotel. Staff were very helpful and polite but unfortunately it was clear they had not been properly trained in table service and wine pouring. Apparently they have a temporary manager at present and it is clear they need an experienced and enthusiastic professional to maximise its potential.

My stay
I needed somewhere to stay and picked it out of luck because I was attending my friends wedding at the castle nearby,very friendly staff very clean room, Tarporley is a lovely place with this hotel being in a ideal location.

Would not recommend
The pictures of this hotel make it look lovely however the experience is completely different. I checked in on Friday evening. No one on reception. The chef instructed a young girl to show me to my room. No instruction on WiFi password or breakfast. The next morning there was no access to the restaurant & no chef or staff therefore no breakfast. I had to go to a bakery in the village to get some breakfast. When I returned to my room later in the day, there had been no room service - the bed hadn't been made, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, dirty cups had been left. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told there was no manager. I asked about breakfast the next day & the chef said he would come in & make me some On further inspection of the room, the bedding was dirty & the bathroom floor had urine by the side of the toilet. I was really looking forward to staying here however I wouldn't return nor would I recommend this to anyone else. Apparently this establishment is owned by The Hollies so I would of expected a much higher standard.

Lovely find
Great location with well decorated spacious rooms. Website stresses the food so surprised to find they don’t serve breakfast and only serve dinner on some evenings. Plenty of alternatives in walking distance so not a problem just a surprise

Beautiful room, very clean. Difficult to find the hotel entrance and also difficult to see the contact number on the entrance in the dark. Staff member was very lovely and showed me everything before leaving as hotel is unmanned during the night

Cold and locked out.
A mixed bag: the room was very clean, the shower was good and the bed comfortable. However, the windows were single glazed and the heaters took quite a while to heat the room (as we were staying in December, this was quite noticeable). As a customer, I’d much prefer you leave out the posh bathroom bits and get thicker windows. The main issue: we got the impression our booking was a mistake. We had a call earlier in the day acknowledging our booking but when we arrived the entire place was dark & locked. It took about 5 phone calls and 30 minutes to find out we were meant to have a code for the door. We got this code through somebody’s personal phone. We were the only people on site, it was weird. On the morning of our check out, the fire alarm went off for some reason. As it was only us there, we had to call it in - another 30 minutes of hanging around outside. When the staff eventually came for the alarm, there was no apology or reassurance we could come back in. Overall it was the lack of service that ruined it unfortunately.

Overnight business stay
Booked to stay for a night at No 32. My only contact with the owners/mangers of the property was a text with door codes and where to find the key. There was no one on site when I arrived and i saw no one during my stay. There was no advice before my stay that the restaurant was closed on a Monday & Tuesday and therefore there was no evening meal or breakfast available. Room was good and decor was very good. Not a fan of over bath showers and this one confirmed my dislike. A separate shower would be good. Overall the stay was OK if not a bit impersonal.

The staff are really customer and service focussed right from the moment you step into the property, the reception staff, the bar staff and the kitchen staff are all really friendly. We needed a taxi to attend a wedding the staff kindly arranged one as there only 4 and it was a busy weekend due to Chester races. Our room was beautifully decorated and dressed, with a HUGE bed which at seemed really really soft. It actually ended up being one the best nights sleep we've every had!! The bathroom is modern with shower over a large bath, which I enjoyed having a long soak in before heading off to my friends wedding. The food is really delicious and they cater for veggies and vegans as well as meat eaters. The area itself is lovely and peaceful. Even though we only spent one night there, it felt longer as we both felt rested and cared for by the time we left. Would definitely go back!!!

A lovely place to stay although one of the pillowcases was torn on arrival, how was this not noticed when making the bed! Very comfortable in a lovely area so would come again.

Super restaurant with rooms
We were a group of 4 cycling the Cheshire Cycleway 70. Bedrooms were spacious and beautiful. Good attention to detail. We had drinks at the bar - Chris was a lovely barman. We ate in the restaurant and the food was superb. Best tuna steak and fillet steak we’ve had! Sally is a great manager and couldn’t do enough for us. A great stay. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and restaurant. They don’t serve breakfast, but Ginger and Pickles next door cafe is excellent. They have the deli and bread shop over the road. Tarporley is very pretty with lots of nice little shops.

The most comfortable bed in the World
Really nice place, everything about it was top notch but the beds are to die for so much so we took a picture of the mattress label and have now ordered one. It was that good.

Lovely little find!
We had a lovely stay! The area was beautiful, as was the room. We had a seemless check-in and had everything that we needed waiting for us, including drinks and snacks. If I had to be really picky I would say that the carpet could do with a deep clean, but the bedding and bathroom (all the places that matter) were fabulous. Thanks for a great stay!

Lovely Rooms -Friendly staff
Lovely stay visiting the area for a birthday party at the golf club up the road. Room was lovely, with soft bedding, and a spacious shower. Staff interactions were all friendly. My friends who were staying in the same hotel had an equally lovely and spacious room. Whilst breakfast menus were in the room, breakfast isn't served, but the chef recommended a cafe just next door which was lovely. Would definitely stay again!

The most comfortable beds, great style of the rooms, The White Company products in the bathroom. Very luxurious. No breakfast options before 12 but a couple cute coffee shops and stores within a few minutes walking distance.

The hotel was fabulous but no breakfast even though the menu in the rooms indicated breakfast was an option. We also wanted help re transport to a party a taxi number was provided but we were unable to get anything sorted and when queried re other firms there really was nothing positive coming back I felt that more support could have been given. These two areas really didn’t support the lovely rooms etc
