We really enjoyed our week at the Moonlight Cottage the last week in May. Pros: It was wonderfully rustic with the pine walls, brick fireplace and deck. The kitchen was well-stocked with quality dishes, glasses, pans, and utensils. The heat and TV both worked great. The bed was VERY comfortable! Nice shower. And of course, beautiful views! A super location for day trips to Port Clyde, Friendship, Rockland, Camden and Belfast. We loved exploring the local harbors and lobster pounds everyday, and returning to the cottage each night. Victoria responded quickly to our request for fireplace help, sending a maintenance man over on the holiday to fix the flue. Just a few Cons: No binoculars. What??? An ocean view, birds, lobster boats, sailboats … but all a ways out with no way to see them up close. Very disappointing! The kitchen had no coffee, sugar, creamer, no oil or vinegar, no spices other than salt and pepper. A few more basics would be nice. Lastly, we found the home guide a bit heavy handed in tone, telling us to sweep the floors, start laundry, put washed dishes away … We always leave a place clean and tidy, but in our experience (and for the price) those are the cleaners’ jobs. Threats to charge 50 for each piece of furniture out of place were over the top. A kinder, gentler tone would be appreciated.Overall, Moonlight is a wonderful cottage with a classic Maine vibe. Great location, awesome deck, wonderful views, good gear, homey feel. We recommend!
