Oasis in Most Beautiful Desert in Country
You couldn’t do better than this comfortable home in unbeatable location. We booked here for a book and then were lucky to be able to extend our stay three more days. AC is necessity and this home had it!!! We’d hike early for several hours and hangout at home during the heat of the day. Let me comment about another recent guest’s venomous complaint about the toilet system. First, the toilets worked perfectly if you follow instructions to only have the waste in toilet and put used TP in closed trash container. Second, there is over ample supply of trash bags so you don’t need to keep the used TP in the bathroom if your nose is over-sensitive. Third, that is how one integrates modern life with arid desert environments. I would have happily stayed here if there had only been pit toilets!! This house has the superb feature of having fully walled yard which was perfect for our dogs. That is such a big bonus.

Beautiful!
Lovely villa in a beautiful setting. Owners are quick to respond to questions. Very private with great views of the surrounding hills. Loved the local road runner who darted through twice. :) Quiet neighborhood. Easy drive to BBNP 40 to 50 mins away. Don't miss BB Ranch State Park! Drive south instead of north and at least take in the beautiful scenic drive. Begins only a few miles from the villa. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return and stay again.

Oasis in the desert!
What a great spot out in the Lajitas-area. We absolutely loved our stay and using this house as our home base for a few days of West Texas adventures. Easy access to the State Park, the National Park, the amenities of Lajitas, and Terlingua ghost town.

So quiet and clean
Exceptionally clean. As advertised. Super quiet w amazing access to state and national parks. Lots of space. It was nice there were a few condiments and spices and soaps provided. The sunset, sunrise and night sky view from the front yard is magnificent! The house is acceptably appointed and quite functional. The third bedroom off the kitchen, former garage, is spacious, but can be noisy from early risers. The toilet system is miserable. No toilet paper is allowed in the toilet. The toilets don’t flush well and don’t handle solid waste efficiently. The location is superb. It’s close to a beautiful drive and a slot canyon hike in Big Bend State Park. That’s a must see. It’s also very close to the national park entrance for easy access. All in all if you can get past the toilet thing it’s a great place to stay. The host is easy to contact and communicates frequently.

Best place to stay when visiting Big Bend!
House was so perfect for us! Clean and super comfortable. Loved the covered outdoor patio. Sunsets were unbelievable! Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking in each night. Beds were amazing! Grill was very nice! Loved having the laundry available to use. No complaints! Highly recommend.

A very nice view property
This property's view is very special and beautiful. I love to watch sunrise and sunset from there. I also like how it was decorated. However there were a few things that bother me a lot. It needs a little bit of attention to detail. They are not bad, but I will not give it a five stars. The hangers in the bedrooms don't look good at all. Looks like they are all freebies. The coffee maker was not clean. Tile floor is slippery and some of the tiles are loose. Bed header was cracked.

Stunning views; this is where you want to stay
Lovely home with everything we needed. Sunrises and sunsets were stunning. We found we loved the quiet Lajitas side of things compared to Terlingua. We were within minutes of the state park, Lajitas, and Terlingua and about 20 minutes from the national park. This is a well cared for property. Jane is a great host and checked in with us frequently. The fenced in desert landscaping was so pretty. What a treat!

Villa Rica Adobe House
The house and property were lovely and clean, and the kitchen was well equipped. It is close to the Lajitas Resort and restaurant, where we had some good breakfasts. We enjoyed the beautiful sunrises and the clear star-filled skies from the nice chairs by the porch. It is great location to explore the Big Bend area.

Amazing escape and an awesome host
My wife and I traveled with another couple on a motorcycle trip from Austin to this destination. Jane was an amazing host and guide from before we arrived as well as during our stay. Including helping me find some contacts to help with a mechanical issue. Above and beyond expected. The property is in a magical place with amazing 360 views and a quiet peacefulness. Spent each night relaxing on the patio, watching stars and relaxing. Location minutes from tons of beautiful hiking trails. Looking forward to going back

Best Stay Yet
This is our 5th year coming to run the Big Bend Ultra and this property was by far the best we’ve stayed in. We were pleasantly surprised by it’s proximity to the Barton Warnock center, which made it easy since several of us ran different length races. The property is exactly as it is presented and Jane is a very accommodating hostess! We had everything we needed and more, even games, books and movies. The outdoor areas are awesome with lots of comfortable seating in which we star-gazed each evening. I especially loved the hammock! We also appreciated that she responded so quickly to messages and questions. Probably the most excellent surprise was waiting on our furry friend, Jedda! The basket full of balls, toys and treats, as well as the thought behind it, was spectacular and appreciated! Old sheets are provided and it is requested that you throw one on the furniture if you enjoy cuddling with your furry friends! This was unexpected as it wasn’t the typical “Please, keep your animals off the furniture.” This gesture demonstrated that Jane truly wanted us to consider this “home away from home!” We will be back next year! -Jenn Richardson (DFW, TX)

Excellent Lajitas rental
Highly recommended! The house had everything thing we needed. Jane has thoughtfully provided for your stay and was fabulous with communication. The location is excellent- quiet, scenic and walkable to the Lajitas store and trails, including one trail into the National Park. It is a half mile from the Barton Warnock Ranger Station and the Contrabando trails in the State Park. Very, very clean and as pictured.

Great house in the perfect location!
Our trip this time included some close family friends and our adult daughter and her boyfriend. We spilt our time between the national park and the state park so the house is in the perfect location for that. The pictures online of the home don’t do it justice, the house was exactly what we were looking for. Jane was easy to deal with, check in and check out was simple. There is a book of instructions in the house to help you with all the systems of the home and everything is labeled making it easy to find. Would highly recommend this home to anyone needed a house in the Big Bend area.

Perfect for our needs
Everything with the rental was great from the cleanliness, ease of check in and communication with owner, to check out. The home contained everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen was well supplied with anything and everything we needed for cooking and preparing meals. Although the location is a little far from BBNP, we knew that before booking. The house and amenities were worth driving a little extra....because let's face it...everything in the area is a bit of a drive! Lol! The owner was very helpful in assisting us in locating and returning some jewelry that was accidentally left behind.

Big Bend at its Best

What spectacular views!!

This is a great house and me and my family had a great stay. It was spotlessly clean. Very well stocked kitchen and game shelf. We spent most of our time on the spacious east-facing patio. The house exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it.

Excellent stay
We stayed here for 4 nights while exploring the Big Bend/Terlingua area. This property makes a great base for regional exploring and is very comfortable with everything you need. The real plus was having a fenced yard for our young son and small dog to play in. The host Jane was also very communicative and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend.

Location was lovely in the heart of Big Bend and the stay calming and delightful. Everything was available...well equipped kitchen, plenty of clean sheets and towels and enjoyable interiors. Yards around the gated home and the front and side porches provided utmost coziness with all required amenities including a cute hammock. Water was abundant and host has been super communicative. Great location
We are all in our 70's and travel to Big Bend on a vearly basis. We have stayed at a number of locations and Villa Rica is the very top. We will be back. The location is very convenient. The home was very clean and comfortable. We cooked dinners in and the kithchen was completely stocked and ready for us. Would give more than 5 stars if we could. Loved it.

Great stay for families
We had two couples and two kids and we all had enough space and the fenced in yard was great for kids safety. The home owner even left additional plug covers for us to use to protect the kids. Super close to Lajitas resort and about 30 minutes to the Big Bend park entrance. It was quiet and the view was spectacular

Great Stay in Lajitas!
What a beautiful place to stay while visiting Big Bend Country! This a great home base while venturing out and exploring. Jane's property is very clean and comfortable. The three bedroom two bath layout was perfect for us, and the 2 other couples that we travel with. The kitchen has everything you need for at home meal preparation, yet close enough to visit the excellent area restaurants. The yard is clean, beautifully landscaped, and fenced which was a safe enclosure for our English Springer, where she loved to run and play. Communication with the owner was exceptional and she was quick to respond to our needs and my many questions. Check in and check out was also a breeze and we would definitely choose this property again when back in the area. FIVE STARS!!! You won't be disappointed should you choose to stay here. Look no further, you found the perfect place!

Amazing home very close to Big Bend National Park
We stayed at this home for 4 night in December 2021.. We were two families... 4 adults and 3 children. The home is located in Lajitas which is very close to the Big Bend National Park. There is a gas station and a store just 0.8 miles from the home... The checkin process was flawless... The host Jane made sure that any questions we asked were replied to within minutes... The home was really well stocked. Everything we needed was already there... The house was cleaned to perfection including the linens and the towels provided... All in all this was an awesome stay and we will look forward to going there again if possible...
