Cute and cozy
The location was very good and the house is cute and cozy. We loved the wine we were gifted and the neighborhood was close enough to major attractions but also far enough that you got some much needed quiet and calm.

Great place for 3-4!
Loved our stay here. Very clean, beds were very comfortable, plenty of space for 3-4 adults. We were able to cook breakfast in the morning before heading out too! Close to the metro as well, you can walk or just park at the metro station for just $10. After walking in dc all day I didn't feel like walking back 😂 also loved being able to do laundry too. Everything was very well stocked in the apartment too

Amazing Stay
Apartment is very nice and cozy. Very comfortable for 3 people. Host also have recommendations to other things to do in the area. Safety proof the house for tall people. Overall a very nice experience.

Christmas in Brookland DC
Very clean with adequate accommodations, which included a washer and dryer, stove and microwave. Adequate space to lay out clothing and personal items. Large table to sit at for eating, playing games, etc. The fireplace added a nice touch, as well as for warming the area as needed. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider it again in the future.

Clean and close to DC attractions
Listing is just as is - clean, cute basement apartment. Easy to get to DC attractions by Uber or a short 10-12 minute walk to the subway (we did both)! Great communications and safe street to park on. 3 adults and one teen and had plenty of room. Very reasonable door dash when you come back from all day touring DC and don’t feel like going to restaurant. Would recommend and would stay here again!!😄

Comfortable and cozy
Cute basement apartment. They have everything you need and more. Good use of space and we were pleasantly surprised that the second bedroom is now a queen sized bed ( very comfortable ).The pictures showed a daybed with trundle. Although you can not control the temperature it was completely comfortable and very shocking how quickly it did cool down with just opening the window. The floors were clean but slippery. If you are tall be cautious there are a few areas where you may bump your head.

Perfect Stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at this apartment! Communication with our hosts via email was excellent. Street parking was always available. The apartment is well maintained and roomy. The location was perfect for us. When we go back to the area, we will definitely stay there again!

Comfortable DC stay!
This property was perfect for our needs for a 2-night stay in DC--work colleagues traveling together who needed private spaces for sleeping with common space. Communication with the owners was very clear with quick responses, with great suggestions for things to do and little notes posted throughout the apartment with suggestions and tips. Family noise did carry to the back bedroom with the staircase heading up to the main floor starting around 7:15 am, but I was awake so it didn't bother me significantly. Beds were super comfortable and the shower was also great. Would recommend!

DC weekend
We were in DC for a graduation- this spot was very clean, convenient and well furnished. We were able to walk to the Rhode Island metro easily and get to and from the home with no issues. The beds were vary comfortable as well.

Fri, May 5, 10:14 AM (3 days ago) PLEASE READ THE EMAIL SENT ON WEDNESDAY. OUR OFFICE IS REQUESTING A FULL REFUND. Wed, May 3, 4:31 PM (2 days ago) Please be advised that we desire to cancel our reservation. The reasons are cited in part below. The listing was deliberately deceptive about important details including that this was a basement unit, the ceilings are all extremely low, we do not have direct access to thermostat, and there was a door into the unit from the owners upstairs. The upstairs unit also has loud children, which again was not in the listing. For the above noted reasons; please cancel our reservation effective immediately. We will return to pick up our luggage and check out today.

Hi Daarina, we are so sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. We pride ourselves on providing a good experience to our guests, had you ever contacted us with any issues we would have worked with you to resolve them immediately. The only contact we received was after you had stayed several days and then left. Regarding the accuracy of our listing description we did our best to state this is a basement apartment (mentioned twice). The temperature is controlled by the hosts (thermostat is upstairs) and can be changed quickly upon request, The ceilings are low (7ft) with one spot that has a bulkhead, and that we are a family living our lives upstairs with a 4 year old and a 2 year old. We welcome constructive feedback and will do our best to improve communication and overall guest experiences.

Great get away to DC
This property was all that it was described to be. We were very happy with the location, the space, the access, the things provided within- linens, kitchen needs, trash. The rooms were clean, the shower was awesome, the TV was great to help relax at the end of a busy day. We were not bothered by noise, had no problem parking, and found some great spots close by to eat and meet our grocery needs. Given more time, we would have done more in the cute surrounding areas. We had short drives to the zoo and downtown which suited our family needs just fine! This retreat was perfect for us and we were happy to have the chance to stay here!

I really enjoyed this location! It is within easy walking distance of nice local restaurants. The bus line was also close by and they provided great info on the area in the apartment. Clean and easy to get to!

Basement apartment in good neighborhood with some concerns.
This property was fine in most aspects. Stacey & Scott were cordial hosts, even leaving a bottle of wine for their guests. Communication was plentiful including various notes to ensure our ability to be able to operate various things and follow expected procedures. There were some areas of concern, however, for at least for some potential guests. Taller guests like me could bang one’s head on several entryways between rooms where ceiling was a maximum of 6 feet high - requiring one to stoop. One of the bedrooms evidently is just under the kitchen on the main floor and noise was a concern 1st thing in the morning - both a blender and little feet awoke my wife. My chief concern however, was the inability to control the ambient temperature well in the apartment. There is no thermostat or temperature control for the heat. There is a fireplace & space heaters in case it gets too cold. However, those whose sleep patterns are not stellar, like myself, may find having to crack a window to avoid being overheated at night, not only bothersome in winter but ineffective for achieving a controlled temperature suitable for quality sleep. This would not be so bad if I could simply have closed off vents from the furnace, however, several of them, including one inside my bedroom had no ability to be closed or even limited. Every time the furnace kicked back on, the room temperature soared and I did not rest particularly well.

Hi Andrew, thank you for this feedback. We leave instructions to please contact us immediately if a guest is not comfortable with the temperature as we can easily adjust the temperature for you and also have ways to adjust the vents you mentioned. We did not hear from you so could not make any adjustments. Our ceilings have sound proof insulation but we do live upstairs so there will be some noise. When we travel we have a little white noise when we sleep to help with noise we hear from our neighbors in hotels. You are correct that there is a 6 foot bulk head that would inconvenience tall people but the vast majority of the apartment has 7 foot ceilings. Again thank you for this feedback, it helps us improve the service we provide.

Just like the pictures. Fit our family of 6.
We spent 5 nights in this charming rental. My kids called it the, "little house," and really loved having a place to unwind at the end of a day full of sight seeing. Very comfortable memory foam style beds. This energy efficient home has LOTS of outlets (a bonus when traveling with teens). Though small the we had no problem fitting our family of 6. Plenty of towels, blankets, etc. kitchen items and full size coffee maker! All the necessary items to have meals from the house. I used the broil function on the oven to make toast each morning. One evening it was cool outside so we used the lovely electric fireplace and were toasty within minutes. Tips: 1. Amazon Now delivery from Whole Foods is available if you don't care to venture out to a grocery store. 2. Not the best option for small children/ strollers. Possible, but tricky. 3. This is a garden level apartment with a family upstairs. If you are a very light sleeper I would recommend ear plugs or a white noise machine at night. 4. Public transportation is available about 15 min walk from the unit. We chose to drive in and park. Using a pre-paid parking app we had garage parking very close to the National Mall for $18.00 per day.

Clean and inviting overall. Warm room felt inviting coming in from the cold. We did pull human clump of hair off sheets. Housekeeper should check sheets better. For three people two soaps would have been nice. Luckily I brought a bar. Thank you for the bottle of wine.

Very cozy and clean
We LOVED our trip to DC and our home away from home VRBO. It was nicely remodeled and so cozy. After our long days in the city, we really enjoyed coming back to the cozy apartment-open floor plan was great and really felt like home. After walking an average of 6 miles a day site seeing, it was nice to relax and cuddle up on the couch! Unit was very clean!
