Amazing experience! Great for families who want to vacation simply and see amazing views, both the hills and cows as well as the vast array of stars. We plan on coming back in the future! Evan (the host) was fantastic.

Great place to stay. Fireplace is excellent!Comfortable beds.We had some minor issues with the power including a district wide power cut but the farmstay is well stocked and we still managed a cooked breakfast.

We had a lovely stay over the new years! A cozy setting and good break from city life. We explored the property following the trail instructions from Evan and had fun finding the waterfall too.

Excellent location for a relaxing and peaceful stay. Good wifi. The bed was very comfortable and the shower is excellent with great water pressure. The cabin is very roomy and comfortable with lovely views across the farm which you can enjoy from the spacious verandah. Our dog was very welcome and you are free the roam all around the farm but must be respectful of where the animals are grazing and ensure you close all gates.

We LOVED our stay at the Rotokauwau Woolshed. Value for money, beautiful views, chill vibe. The place had everything we needed for a peaceful few days. Warm beds with lots of blankets. Really good pressure in the shower! Evan was so accommodating and had great communication. He checked in to make sure we were happy and everything was right. Highly recommend for somewhere a bit out of the ordinary and memorable. Thanks Evan for hosting our group, we hope to be back soon :-)

This is such an amazing place to stay - beautiful rural farm land surrounded by ancient bush & forests... And yet only a 15min drive to the coast & access to 3 Sisters etc... The host & owner was great to deal with & I really appreciated learning about the current farm and the fascinating history of the whole area via an excellent book in the lounge. We visited in Summer, the place was sunny & warm & was great to have a BBQ outdoors... Access was no problem but it would be fun to stay in colder seasons & get the fireplace cranked! I look forward to my next stay & for longer next time as there is so much to explore.Thanks to the host for sharing such a special place!

We enjoyed our stay. It felt like glamping because it’s very rustic but the area is lovely. The only issue we had is the driveway to get to the house is very steep and not paved. The van we rented could barely make it. Also this is not an easy come and go place with easy access. It’s a come and stay a while in the country type of place.

This property and host were awesome!! From the view to the complete isolation was amazing and my family and I really enjoyed ourselves.. only difficult thing was the driveway as it’s not ideal for small car and would definitely come in a 4x4

Perfect for us!

Our group were attending an event in Ahititi and Kotare was perfect for us. Easy access (steep but good driveway), excellent facilities, comfy beds, and a great central social area.

An absolutely stunning location. Rolling hills, native bush and a beautiful lake. If you want to see the vast expanse of stars with no light pollution at night, settle into the rhythm of the gentleness of time without phones and TV, this is your place. It is rustic, but cozy and comfortable. So many lovely touches... lovely memories made and a few good books devoured from the deck in the sunshine. Thanks Evan for sharing this special place.

Rustic and quiet

Great 3 night stay in the woodshed. We enjoyed being out of cell range and a chance for our 6yr old to explore the outdoors. Not far from the forgotten world highway and the beaches so a great place to explore from or just chill with a good book.

A delightful surprise, staying in a woolshed up high above the world! Everything you could need provided, warm and comfortable, great views, interesting selection of books, info about the property and area. Fascinating wool-related details and beautiful QEII bush reserve as well, A great stay on a hideaway location.

Good Easter trip

Property as advertised, cool setting in an old wool shed on a farm we didn't realise at first that the games area was shared with Evan and his lad's. We had a good trip and would go back again.

Farm stay

We loved it out on the farm, was an awesome experience, we decided we could only stay the one night as our car wasn't up for going up the driveway haha, we loved the little house and playing pool, listening to the record player and the kids loved the open space to ride the bikes, would love to come back again, thanks for having us Wo

Easter Getaway

Evan's directions took us straight to our accommodation. The road up there was interesting but shouldn't put people off coming to this gorgeous part of the country.The farm was great to walk around and our dogs enjoyed it too. Great location for dark skies for astrophotography.The best compliment we can give is that we will go back.

Very rustic

Great place, very rustic and lovely old school farming memorabilia. Don't think ive even seen a gin trap hanging in a kitchen before! Lovely hot shower and water pressure, loads of fire wood, heaps of blankets. Was what we payed for! We had a pleaant stay.

Quiet and relaxing getaway

The farm stay is great to get away from it all and breathe some fresh air. Everything is clean and the place has everything you need. Waterfall is not too far drive. Evan is a great host and great to chat to.
