Overall, the house was nice. It could use some upgrades, however. The upstairs bathroom toilet would get stuck when flushed. We took a few cold showers because the hot water would run out. The doors to the outside were difficult to open and lock. The house needs maintenance.

The great room was the best room in the house.

There’s a lot to say about this house and experience. ISSUE #1 especially if you’re traveling with small children or elderly, there are NO TV’s IN THE BEDROOMS except the primary. Also, there is no live tv. You have to have a YouTube tv acct or spectrum acct. If we had known there weren’t tvs in the bedrooms we would not have booked this house. The tv in the main living space could only be controlled if you stood 2 feet in front of it.ISSUE #2 - Spider infestation in the bottom level living room/game room. Cobwebs everywhere and hundreds of spiders behind the miniature tv on the wall. My kids refused to play or stay down there after the first night.ISSUE #3 - The kitchen, while spacious, had an old stove top that had no labeling on the controls. It made cooking very challenging and dangerous since we had no idea what temp we had the flame at.ISSUE #4 - Even though it says a 9 mile drive to town, it will take you about 30 min to get there. Just to get to a supermarket or gas station. And dealing with Yonder Property Management was less than stellar. Lynette was condescending and rude when we asked her questions. Her only response was, “well, we haven’t had complaints before.”Overall, for this kind of money, one would expect a more updated house and a cleaner one at that. Sofas are old and chunks of leather missing from them too.Only positive is the view from the deck. But with all the bees swarming the deck, we couldn’t really enjoy that either.

5 night stay. Got to see bears

Property location was nice and the neighborhood is very quiet! Lots of fruits trees on Property. Cleanliness was an issue for us. But may not bothher others. Looks like maybe we were the first to stay in quite a while. We would not stay here again.

Amazing Mountain Retreat!

Black Mountain Hilltop was the perfect Fall Break mountain getaway! Our family, 4 adults and 3 children, had the most perfect fall vacation! The cabin is even better than the pictures. Perfectly decorated to fit the setting, a great layout allowing for privacy with each bedroom having its own bathroom, and offering lots of room to spread out. The kitchen was great for cooking at home. Things provided that are not typically found in rentals. We appreciated the extra toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, all natural soaps, lots of extra blankets and pillows. The kids and adults enjoyed the basement game room, lots of competitive ping pong games! It was nice having the two car garage to park both cars. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside heater for stargazing at night and the hot tub was a big hit with the kids! We also enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at night and the extra firewood that was provided. The best part is the amazing Mountain Views and the gorgeous sunrises! We never wanted to miss a sunrise. Breathtaking. The location of the cabin was perfect, the gated community located high enough up the mountain to offer those fantastic views. It was a bit of a winding drive getting there, but what can one expect- you’re driving up a mountain and those views totally made it worth it! We drove into Asheville a few times during our stay and it was about 25 mins. We enjoyed the town of Black Mtn, about ten mins or so down the mountain. We will definitely be back!

Mountain Golf

Looking for a beautiful, great place for 4 couples (golf trip), this is it. Accommodated 4 bedroom/bath, and wonderful open areas (inside and out) for group activities and just hanging out. As expected, many scenic but windy roads to/from activities.

Black Mountain

Really enjoyed our stay and despite some rain were able to enjoy some hiking and exploring Black Mountain. It was a great to come back to the mountain top Estate to enjoy some relaxing family time and the great views at the end of the day. The home is a wonderful family friendly home. Enjoyed the gourmet kitchen and playing games in the great room . Definitely will return

Great mountain getaway

Beautiful property set in the mountains. It’s not close to anything really - about 25 min to eating and activities, but this is fine because the seclusion is wonderful. Some great waterfall hikes nearby and the views are sublime. The accommodations are very considerate of anything you might need (the kitchen rocks). My only regret is I wish we would have stayed in the house more and did fewer excision. It’s great!

Beautiful mountain escape

Wonderful property, beautiful views, super clean, comfortable bedding. Quite a hike to get up the mountain but well worth the drive for the serenity this home offers. Wonderful game area in the basement for kids and family fun. Cool backyard for s’mores roasting, amazing deck for dinner and cocktails or enjoying the hot tub. Great place to stay while visiting asheville and surrounding areas!

Great Mountain Getaway

For once the online listing pictures matched the actual property! The lodge is secluded, the view from the deck is fantastic, the lodge has all amenities needed. We were able to house 8 adults and four kids for four nights with plenty of space for all.

Sweet Retirement Ladies Getaway

We truly enjoyed the stay. There was ample space for everyone to retreat to own sanctuary. The house was well stocked with items you just don't think about. The concierge service was an added bonus. Only down side is wish they kept the gas fireplace. Overall amazing place.

Great stay

The views from the deck at sunrise with a black coffee and in the evening under the stars with an Irish whiskey were the highlight. Regarding the house, the house is spacious as we had 10 people, dogs and a baby and we never felt crowded. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and the kitchen was well stocked w dishes, pots/pans, colanders, etc. for doing some cooking. Aside from a minor toilet issue that was quickly fixed by management, the only other complaint was that the sheets were dried with scented fabric softener sheets which irritated some guests allergies. A quick wash resolved this issue. All guests agreed that we would recommend the house and that we would stay again.

Beautiful home. Awesome view.

We had a wonderful time at the Hilltop Retreat in Black Mountain, NC. The location and views cannot be beat. The pictures don’t lie! The house is beautiful and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware and glasses/cups. Pots and pans were beyond worn and need replacing but we had the basics to cook family meals. The grill, fire pit and hot tub were enjoyed by all as were the ping pong and bumper pool tables on the lower level. The management company was responsive and easy to work with. My only critique would be that there was some deferred maintenance that should have been addressed prior to our arrival (running toilet, broken baluster, cracked glass shade on a kitchen pendant, broken hood vent fan etc.). Unfortunately, these properties take a beating which makes tending to these items that much more important. All in all we had a terrific time and would definitely return.

Hilltop Relaxation

Hilltop Retreat was a great visit for our two families and a dog. The beds were comfortable and there was lots of space for everyone to spread out. Having things like soap, toilet paper, dishwasher pods, coffee filters, and detergent on hand was so nice. Kids loved the ping pong table and we got good use of the bocce set. Hot tub was great once we figured out the controls and we enjoyed a fire pit in the afternoons and evenings. The only thing that needs an update is the outside chairs. There are some good wind gusts on the mountain and it sets the chairs flying. We only had two working chairs and did some creative seating. Perhaps consider bringing a few camping chairs until those are replaced. This house is a great rental and we were all impressed! Kitchen was easy to cook in and very well organized. Extra fridge in the garage was a nice bonus for drinks and being able to park in the garage was great. We did a day in Asheville and a hike to Catawba Falls. Ingles is 20 minutes from the house and has everything you need. Hilltop Retreat was a great place to stay and the property management company, Yonder, was very easy to work with. Thanks for sharing your fantastic home with us!

A bit disappointing

First, I'll say the location is great. Very private and the views are amazing. That said, we were somewhat disappointed in the overall condition of the home, especially for the price paid per night. Disappointed enough to leave a day earlier than our scheduled departure day. I reported the items below to the management company, along with pictures, who in turn forwarded them to their maintenance personnel. Hopefully these won't be an issue for future travelers because again, overall it was a great place and only a couple of the items were cause for us to leave (and get a good night sleep! lol). * Master bedroom - The bed in the master bedroom was broken, making it nearly impossible to sleep in. We initially thought the mattress was wore out but then when we were packing to leave we noticed that the frame itself looked to be damaged. The section towards the headboard sinks down significantly, particularly on the right side. You ever try to lay with your entire body tilted toward your head? I couldn't take it and actually had to sleep on the couch. It is hard to imagine that the cleaning crew would not have noticed this when they were preparing the bed for our arrival. * Temp in the master bedroom - The temperature in the bedroom became extremely uncomfortable. We adjusted the thermostat in the main living room to 70 degrees (it was previously set to 63 degrees, brrr). There didn't appear to be a separate thermostat for the bedroom, but it got extremely hot in there and the adjacent bathroom and closet. Now we were trying to sleep with our feet above our heads, and in a sauna... lol * Broken lawn chairs - Two of the chairs around the fire pit were broken. They were also strown around like a party had just happened instead of being placed back in a more presentable manner. Just an attention to detail item that failed to leave a first good impression. * Dishwasher - The door on the dishwasher didn't seem to close correctly, and the top shelf was broken where we had to try and realign it to close. * Trash around property - There were several areas where trash (ice bags, beer cans, pieces of foil, a used dog poop bag) were left. Not a lot, but certainly noticeable as we walked the property. * Doors and locks - The main entry door and the back door to the deck are very difficult to lock. We realize this is an older home but these should get looked at for ease of access and security. Overall - very nice, just needs attention.

Fall Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property for a fall getaway with our adult children. Property was beautiful - very private setting with a great view. The home had very spacious bedrooms, ample bathrooms and large common spaces for gathering and making meals together. We would definitely recommend this property to others. We did have a difficult time finding the property even when using the written directions provided vs. GPS. It would be helpful for future guests if the directions were updated - the first half worked great, but they were missing a few final turns to actually get you to the property.

Absolutely Amazing!

This was our first time staying in Black Mountain and we were completely blown away by the house, location, decor, and gorgeous autumn splendor! Truly the perfect getaway, a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of life outside DC. The game room in the basement and hot tub were a huge hit with our older kids, and our toddler loved the ride on toy too. From nightly fires in the great room to making breakfast in the gourmet kitchen every morning, we fell in love with this house and the mountains. The most incredible views, and everything you could ever want in a luxury mountain house!

Had a great stay with family and friends. There were 8 of us and it was great to have separate bedrooms/bath for each couple. House and property is great. Plenty of room to spread out, large dining table accompanied all of us, good kitchen supplies, cooked inside and on grill. Beautiful setting. Management was very accommodating with our every need. Highly recommend.
