Una encantadora casa de 1930 con vistas al lago Erie

Disfrute de una hermosa vista del lago Erie! Esta casa de campo de la década de 1930 se asienta sobre un banco con vista al lago y ofrece un respiro extraordinario del ajetreo y el bullicio de la vida de la ciudad. Relájese escuchando las olas o viendo pasar los cargueros del lago en la noche.

La zona está llena de encanto, diversión y naturaleza: dos puertos cercanos, hermosos parques y playas, 19 puentes cubiertos, golf, lugares de observación de aves, vistas panorámicas, históricas casas en el octágono, 24 bodegas y muchos restaurantes: desde extravagantes informales a finos restaurantes.

Somos nuevos en VRBO, pero no te preocupes, no te decepcionará. La cabaña y los anfitriones han atendido a docenas de huéspedes felices después de una reapertura en 2018. En el poco tiempo transcurrido desde entonces, muchos huéspedes han regresado dos o tres veces con planes de regresar. Nada habla más fuerte que los negocios repetidos.
Durante décadas, esta cabaña se reservó con los clientes habituales que tenían reservas permanentes. A medida que los huéspedes y el propietario envejecieron, la propiedad se mantuvo en buen estado, pero nunca se comercializó y su uso disminuyó. Estamos encantados de poder comenzar a compartir este lugar especial de nuevo.

Las instalaciones eléctricas y de fontanería han sido completamente actualizadas; La calefacción y el enfriamiento son nuevos. Por diseño, algunos muebles originales permanecen para mantener el encanto y el carácter originales. En algunos casos, puede haber demasiado carácter, ya que trabajamos con esmero para restaurar algunas piezas a su antigua gloria. El proceso tomará tiempo, pero encontrará el espacio tranquilo y cómodo con una vista inmejorable.

Lo que Goldfinch Cottage puede carecer de esmalte, lo compensa con encanto. Nuestros huéspedes consideran que es un maravilloso antídoto para el alojamiento estéril y predecible que es demasiado común, ¡y nos dicen que los anfitriones también son excelentes! :)

Our host was wonderful. We were met by one of the cohosts and given a warm welcome. Everything was clean and neat and exactly as described by the VRBO website. Excellent communication from the host who had previously answered all of our questions. Canary Cottage is beautiful and its view of Lake Erie is breathtaking.

We spent a long weekend at the cottage on our first trip to Lake Erie with an 8 year-old and 7 month-old in tow. This cottage was in a quiet location yet only a minute away from a great park and beach area with free parking. I loved the charm of the old cottage and spent a lot of time taking in the view of the lake from the screened in porch. It was clean and the host was great with communicating with us. We would definitely stay here again. It provided for a relaxing trip for us.

Good but not great, cute but not charming

I have sent a very long email to the owner, Rick, about all the problems we had at Canary Cottage. There were things we loved about the place and things that he thinks are “lack of polish,” “charm,” and keeping original character, but in reality are simply run down and needing repaired/replaced. The location and view of Lake Erie is amazing but there is no direct access to the water and no barrier to keep anyone from falling down the steep bank. This could be dangerous for children. There is no dishwasher, no central AC (one large wall unit,) no awnings/gutters/downspouts, no driveway or sidewalk to the front door (because of all the rain the front yard was a swamp,) limited workspace, and too few utensils. The microwave blows out a breaker every time it is turned on – the breaker box is behind the flower picture. The bathtub is so bad that I didn’t even want to stand in it, and clean towels are left out in the open near cooking odors. The hot water tank was not turned on, and the kerosene heater is a fire hazard that should be removed as the electric heater does a great job of heating the porch. We did not see eagles, but we did watch bulk carrier ships pass by. Go see the covered bridges – they are fascinating and each is unique in style. Go to the beautiful public park and beach a mile north and walk the brand new boardwalk, continue to the observation deck. You will have to drive to Ashtabula or Erie to eat out as we only found a few pizza places, McD, and DQ in town.

Great property

We had a great time at the cabin. Right on the lake with beautiful views and everything we needed, and the property manager kept in touch making sure everything was good. Highly recommend and we hope to visit again.

Perfect weekend getaway

Walked in the front door and gasped at the Lake Erie view. Outside, you can hear the waves and watch numerous birds, including bald eagles, fly right by. Rick and his dad are attentive and thoughtful hosts. My husband loves to swim and Rick forwarded lake temperatures ahead of our visit! Public beach is but a mile away. We will be back!

Beautiful view!

I look forward to this weekend all year and it never disappoints! The view is EVERYTHING! Clean, comfortable cottage lacks nothing. New friends made at the park’s beach and a visit with our known friend, Mr. Ross. I highly recommend this little cottage!

Wonderful, quiet getaway

What a lovely getaway spot! This little house has spectacular views of the lake, and it relaxes you just to sit on the enclosed porch and listen to the waves lap. This place is a throwback to lake cabins of my childhood - not fancy, but very comfortable - except, I should note, with really good wifi for computers and streaming TV. Rick and his dad were super responsive when I asked anything and very unobtrusive the rest of the time, and both check-in and check-out were a breeze. Thanks for a relaxing weekend away.

Cozy quiet cottage with an amazing view of Lake Erie

We volunteered at D-Day event and rented this place due to location. It was nice to be able to walk to the the park and then come back to the cozy cottage. Nice screened in back porch to sit and watch the waves of Lake Erie. The owner looked up the weather, sent the idea of walking to park, had the greatest greeter to welcome us, and had water and treats waiting for us. Couldn’t ask for a better host! The personal details were very thoughtful. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Cottage with beautiful view of the lake

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was comfortable enough for the 4 of us. We had a beautiful view of Lake Erie, very relaxing. The neighborhood beach was a few minute drive and was clean and not overly crowded. The cottage was close to various places to eat. Rick and his father were lovely hosts who were very welcoming and accommodating. We would definitely book here again.
