I absolutely loved the place. I’ve rented a variety of homes in Vermont to go skiing and this had to be my best experience. It’s a remote home and the front stairs can be challenging to go up and down due the snow but what a beautiful place with all the charm of a home deep in the winter beauty of Vermont.

Beautiful setting

Even though it rained our entire stay, we thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness. The view from the deck overlooking the falls and creek to the pond and the rest of the property was amazing. Everything inside was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. You can enjoy this secluded home. Lovely pond with kayaks and canoe. Listen to the stream while relaxing on the deck. Great weekend getaway. We truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Beautiful and relaxing vacation experience

This property was exactly what I was looking for...a quiet, comfortable, beautiful spot to relax and explore the outdoors. From hiking/biking to reading in the hammock listening to the waterfall, all of my needs were met. The town is very quaint and has several amazing restaurants. The owners are a wonderful family willing to go above and beyond to help. I highly recommend this little piece of heaven to anyone looking for a getaway!

While the property was lovely on the ground floor, there were features that should have been more clearly pointed out in the listing that would have influenced our decision to rent this particular property. Specifically, the height of the bedroom ceilings and the condition of the stairs from the parking area to the cabin. The listing should state that it is not appropriate for most renters with chidren or physical limitations.

This house is lovely, peaceful, and secluded. It’s a wonderful place to stay if you want to enjoy nature and explore the surrounding area. The only thing I would say as a word of caution: this house is not a great choice for people with very small kids or older folks. The staircase up to the bedrooms is not for the faint of heart! Also, if you are very tall, you might knock your head (a lot) on the ceiling upstairs. Besides those two caveats, this house was a lovely stay.

Cozy Cabin Stay

We had a great stay at this cozy cabin. Situated overlooking a scenic private pond, the charming cabin is in a perfect location to explore the beautiful Vermont area. It’s in close proximity to the picturesque Woodstock and Silver Lake in Barnard. Possibly due to the water tanks at the property, the water had a not so great smell so would recommend buying your own water for drinking.

Beauty of Nature

This is my third stay here. It's a wonderful cabin and property for nature lovers! The lovely deck is a perfect place to take in the surroundings. A pond, a waterfall, a fire pit and a cozy cabin, totally private, what more could you ask for? If you have physical limitations, just be aware that you have to walk up a small hill and some stairs from the parking area and the spiral staircase inside may be difficult to navigate for some.

Beautiful view, peaceful, great location.

We were looking for a rental in Barnard and this was a perfect location. The home is situated on a hill overlooking a pond. The loft for sleeping doesn’t have much headroom, but I enjoyed waking up and feeling like I was a treehouse. Loved the hammock, spacious kitchen, and radiant flooring in the bathroom. We hope to return again!

Relaxing VT stay

We enjoyed our stay at this secluded cabin! The space was lovely-with a great pond and waterfall to explore. My toddler enjoyed all of the toys put out by the owners and catching frogs nearby. It was a hot weekend, but the trees and waterfall was more than enough to keep the nights comfortable. The cabin is close to a lot of great sites, so we never had to go far for things to do and there was a binder in the cabin that outlined much of it to help you decide. All in all a great stay and we'd definitely consider returning next time we need to get away from it all!

Wonderful mountain getaway!

Visited for my birthday and Valentines, couldn't have been a more storybook setting. Next to the waterfall and snowing, it was like a movie. The cottage was great, loved the wood buring stove and large kitchen. Woodstock was a short drive away and lots of great food options near by. We're already planning our next trip in Summer/Fall to hike and enjoy the beautiful surrounding! Thanks so much for sharing your cottage! The owners were wonderful and easy to arrange checkin. Beyond expectations!

My fiancé and I eloped to Woodstock, VT during the month of May and we stayed here with our 2 kids. It was very well kept home and the updates were nice. We loved sitting on the porch watching the waterfall right in front of the house, and the kids loved sitting on the hammock, playing with the toys and watching the movies. This was the most relaxing trip we've taken in the past few years and we would definitely stay here again. Best of all, there was internet! There is practically no cell service in the surrounding area so for any type of a connection to the outside world this was a life saver.

Gorgeous spot

This home is in a gorgeous, private spot. There is a bridge over a small waterfall to get to the house! We loved hearing the water, the great views out the front windows, the comfy sitting areas and the heated floor in the bathroom. This might not be the best choice for guests with mobility challenges, as the outside steps might be tough and there is a spiral staircase inside to get to the bedrooms. We had no trouble at all and loved the fairytale quality. The bedrooms do have low ceilings but we didn't have any trouble with that either. Easy drive to Woodstock. Loved it!!

Terrific getaway

We spent four wonderful days at this inviting cabin. This is Vermont the way we remembered it. Everything you need is included to relax and enjoy the mountain air and sweeping vistas. The caretaker gave me a quick fly fishing lesson which helped me land a rainbow trout from the pond. I returned him for the next lucky angler. You’ll get your exercise going up and down the spiral staircase leading to the bedrooms. If you have health concerns may need to consider this when choosing this property. Thanks for everything!

Remote cabin

The cabin is remote and located on a beautiful piece of property. The living and kitchen offer good space, but the sleeping quarters are tight with small beds not really made to accommodate 2 adults. The home, linens and furniture smell quite musty, and there is a bit of a mouse problem as per droppings. Spiral stair case was a bit of a challenge. Not worth the amount charged per night. No one in our party stated they would stay here again.

Outdoor Paradise

Gorgeous property, we enjoyed our time there immensely! Early morning peaceful swims on private pond, soothing sound of the brook/waterfall(even though water level was low due to drought), nice deck overlooking pond, large fire pit, owls hooting, sweet, comfortable cabin stocked with basics, including a Weber charcoal grill. If you love the outdoors and wish to enjoy it to the fullest, this place is ideal. Lots of privacy. One minor annoyance was the shower door which does not close properly. Yes, as mentioned by others, bedrooms are on the small side with sloping ceilings, but they are fine, that didn't bother me. You also have to be willing to do a certain amount of climbing every time you leave/return to cabin. Small price to pay for staying at this wonderful place!

Beautiful and relaxing

The property is beautiful and very quiet. There are a few steps to go up to the cabin from the parking, it's a little steep but nothing too intense (probably more challenging with snow?). There is a little pond with a turtle and small fish where the waterfall drops. The cabin itself is beautiful and modern on the inside, a cozy living room, a tv room (Roku with some cable), a large patio in the front, the stairs are a little small but solid, the rooms are not huge and there is the slopped ceiling but we didn't mind. Note that the loft if not accessible to guests (I think it is because the railing is pretty low). Total there is a double bed in one bedroom, 2 single beds in the other and a pullout couch in tv room. The kitchen is well stocked compared the other rentals(a few spices, oil, coffee, vinegars, sugar), lots of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, a Keurig machine,french press, teapot. The washing machine was out of order when we visited, but that wasn't something we needed. Shower is big and the heated tiles were wonderful. Everything was super clean. There is a slight smell/taste (nothing major) to the water, so bring some if you are bothered by that. The "swimming hole" or large pond was so nice, we spent a lot of time in the water and by the water. There is a canoe, an adult kayak, a kid kayak and a paddle board. We tried all of them and really enjoyed it. The grass has taken over the sandy part of the beach, but it was still pleasant. We would come back anytime!

Beautiful location, peaceful and serene, one with nature

Location ideal for a true Fall get-away. Views from inside of cabin and on the deck are so peaceful and private. Easily lulled by the sound of the waterfall feet from the deck. First floor of cabin is comfortable and well appointed. In many respects this may just be the best place we have ever stayed when traveling throughout New England. The only drawbacks for my wife and I were the circular stairs and the upstairs bedrooms. The circular stairs are more difficult to negotiate with luggage that I expected. And a pain for trips to the bathroom at night. There are only a few spots where I could actually stand erect (I am 6 feet tall). I wish I had a nickel for every time I hit my head. If my back had been acting up, I'd have had a real problem. The ceiling in the bedroom with the double bed is so low on the window side, that my wife and I could not sleep together. She slept in the other bedroom. I could not really ascertain the extent of the low ceiling from the pictures. This cabin is not good for a tall person or a person with a bad back. Other than the bedrooms, we absolutely loved the cabin. I would recommend to the owner, to replace the loveseat by the woodturner stove with a queen sleeper sofa for just couples who lease the cabin. Then they would not need to use the upstairs.

Beautiful cabin near Woodstock VT

We had a wonderful stay at Eli's cabin. The cabin itself is architecturally beautiful and tastefully furnished. It was perfect size for our family of four, although, if i am not mistaken it may accommodate more. The property is very secluded. there are 3 houses around the little lake/pond, but you will have complete privacy. A few important things to note: -We checked in at night time, and we went to the wrong house - check the map carefully because the GPS devices will recognize a different house on the property - turn right before the pond! -the days we stayed were very very cold. The cabin has one gas fireplace heating the place but to really warm up the cabin on a very cold day you may have to use the cast iron wood burning stove which does the magic! -we came here for skiing at Killington. GPS will tell you 40-45 mins to the ski area at Killington. Our advice is leave early in the morning and go to Skyship Gondola which is an easy access to the slopes from the main road with big convenient parking lots. You will save 10 minutes in driving time and avoid crowding at other Ski access areas such as K1, Ramshead etc. -Part of the village road that brings you to Eli's property is a dirt road. No issues in snow. However, on the day we were leaving we had the solid rain the night before and the outside temperature quickly rose to 50s. With the beautiful sunny day that followed the snow melted quickly and that part of the road turned into proper mud. If you have 4WD / SUV you will be fine - otherwise you will have to be very careful. -in this area you may not have / lose frequently cellphone reception (we have at&t) - this may as well be a plus. Eli's cabin has a great Wi-Fi. We, however, wouldn't change a thing! The place was great, the time spent there even better! Eli was very helpful and responsive. Happy to have had him as a host. We love out of the way places. This one qualifies. Very isolated, yet not far from Woodstock and other great places to visit. Well stocked. Comfortable and clean location.We didn't visit the small pond at the bottom of the hill. But it looks like it would be good fun, especially with children. Saw kayak next to a shed. Didn't explore what else was there.Would stay here again. Two items to be aware of. The path from the car park area to the house consists of uneven rocks up the hill in a step-like set up without rails (kind of neat actually). However, it is a climb - should not be a problem unless someone is physically impaired. My wife had sprained her knee on a hike, and it made it a bit difficult.Also, the main bed is up a narrow metal spiral staircase. Again, not a problem, unless impaired. There is a couch that could be let out into a bed downstairs.We enjoyed the place and would visit again.

Relaxing

Very relaxing. Glad for the WI-FI as there is no signal. I think this would be a great place to visit in the summer as well.
