I have never written a negative review before. However, I can not recommend Bay Meadows Resort (Big Bear Lake) given our experience.
When we arrived at Bay Meadows Resort yesterday, the Staff Person at Reception told us that the "power was out". He indicated that there was no electricity due to an outage in Big Bear. What he did not indicate that the heating and stove were electric so unavailable! Our cabin/cottage was 44 degrees when we entered it. It would become colder during the night.
We returned to Reception and said there it was too cold to stay there. He consulted with someone on the phone and offered to return half the payment as it "wasn't their fault". We explained that when we booked a night at Bay Meadows (at $230/night) we expected to have heat and lights. Since they were not being provided, we should receive a full refund. He refused that request. We told him that we would write an Expedia review about our poor experience.
We left and found a wonderful place (Saddleback Inn) in Lake Arrowhead (26 miles away). It had heat, lights, working kitchen, and a nice restaurant. It was also the same price as the Bay Meadows Resort.
I recommend staying only at places where guest experiences are valued! We did not find that at Bay Meadows Resort.
