I booked a Fallsview room for my family visiting from oversea, but this was a very disappointing experience. Before our stay, I called the hotel to confirm we would receive a Fallsview room and requested a higher floor. The staff said they would leave a note. My family checked in first and was given Room 1516. When I arrived, I found that a large part of the view was blocked by the building. We could only see part of Horseshoe Falls, and American Falls was not visible at all. This should not be sold as a regular Fallsview room. The air conditioning also did not work properly, and there was a portable fan in the room like a motel. For a room costing almost CAD $800 per night, this was unacceptable. I asked to change rooms, but the front desk first said none were available. After I explained that I had stayed here before and knew what a real Fallsview room looked like, they suddenly found another room. We were moved to Room 2318, which had the full Fallsview we had paid for. This proves a better room was available. Rooms with blocked views should be clearly described as partial or obstructed Fallsview and priced accordingly. My family also felt the front desk staff were unfriendly during check-in. Since they are visitors and do not speak English well, they felt they were treated differently. I chose Marriott because of its reputation, but instead I had to argue just to receive the room I booked. This experience was frustrating and far below Marriott standards.

I’ve stayed here quite a few times with minimal issues. They have added a $200 security fee that u must pay AFTER being charged by hotels.com. Careful with this. This time around I stayed in a different room, absolutely hated it. HORRENDOUS experience. The refrigerator was not working when we came. It took 2 days for a response and when we finally got it adjusted and asked what they can do to offset the inconvenience, we have yet to be answered. Here’s what pissed me off, check out is 11, we were getting ready to leave and was there till 11:30. This guy basically came into the room while I was naked and didn’t even bother to exit but proceeded to have demanding demeanor telling me I need to leave although I explained we are getting ready and already PISSED at the experience. Think twice!
