Easy experience checking in, great clean room, was worried it might be busy right by the petrol station and a busy road, but hardly any noise at all! Comfortable nights sleep in a great location just a few minutes walk from the city centre, mailbox, O2 Academy, train station. Would definitely book again. Great value

Don’t judge a hotel by its frontage! Inside this little self service hotel the rooms are sound proofed, full of extras, modern, well kept, and the bed is really comfy. I stayed on a work trip and it was ideal, minutes walk from Birmingham New Street Station. I was skeptical when seeing the front, inside it’s lovely. The lift is a very unique too (would’ve preferred stairs for the exercise though).

What a fabulous find!! We stayed here as we were in Birmingham for my nieces hen weekend & were not disappointed!! Lovely room - very comfortable with amazing air conditioning which was very welcome during the current heatwave Very easy to find - even received a video with directions for the car park The only slight negative was the fridge not working, however the very helpful lady who came to sort it said we could message the 24 hour garage next door & they would bring cold drinks etc should be need them We would definitely stay here again - fab find!!

Clean, tidy and well appointed. An excellent and cost effective place to stay in the centre of Birmingham. One teeny, tiny thing that would have helped is bottle opener in the room. Otherwise, very impressive and worked well as an unstaffed/no front desk hotel. Would recommend.

Lovely clean room with fantastic air conditioning. Bed was very comfy and a good hot shower. The building itself was very quiet but there was a little noise from about 08:30am from the car wash next door. Nothing which couldn’t be blocked out with earplugs though. Complimentary snacks and drinks with our room type, slippers, extra shower gel and pillow mist! The access code didn’t come through so I rang the help number and they sent it straight through via WhatsApp and messaged me again a few times just to check everything was all ok. Hotel was within walking distance of the city centre. Can’t fault it. Would recommend all day long.

Room was clean and was very bright and warm. Felt secure. Bed was dead comfy. There was shop nearby which had decent snacks not too badly priced.

room was amazing, had a great air-con so we had it nice and toasty! and although un-manned, the staff communicated brilliantly through WhatsApp and were very helpful throughout AND I could leave my car the next day until 2pm so I got to go around Birmingham for a bit the next day.

Fab rooms and location is perfect

Outwardly doesn't look the best but rooms are fabulous, larger than most, modern and well equiped. Whilst there are no staff onsite, it was easy to communicate via text message and the location couldn't be better. Would definitely return

Poor communication from Hotels.com

Hotels.com failed to relay that I had booked 2 rooms. Only 1 room was reserved. Hotels.com did not let me know, luckily Holloway hotel noted the mistake and contacted me. They endeavoured to get me a room elsewhere and were very helpful.

Unusual location within a garage forecourt. No staff on site. Digital entry system. The accessible room is accessed via steps, though accessible when in the room. Good sized bedroom, though only one side table by double bed. Level access shower. Raised toilet and shower seat available. Emergency lighting is within the room which is illuminated green and intrusive at night, Great location for theatre. Clean, nice towels. No breakfast. Generally, happy with our stay which was for one night.

Located above a petrol station, as a lone traveler felt slightly vulnerable entering the building given the location. However, once inside it was comfortable and clean and surprisingly quiet. Good communication and instructions prior to stay. A kettle would have been preferable as I couldn’t make a cup of tea with the coffee machine, it appeared to be missing a part to allow for hot water. When I made a hot chocolate instead, there was a build up of black grime that ended up in my drink that put me off using it again. Overal good value for the location only 10 min walk from the train station, facilities could be better.

No reception, so everything done remotely. Entry system for the room was a bit tricky. Worked fine when we arrived, but took about 5 minutes to open the bedroom door when we came back later. Was given an accessible room, which meant although large, the bed was pushed up against the wall, this would never be my choice. In addition, meant the basins in the bathroom were knee height, as I’m 6ft1. The bathroom furniture was bloated and rotting from water damage, and had to hunt for toilet paper. They’d also left the shower chair in the bathroom, just taking up space. (We had not asked for an accessible room) The only window in the room had to have the blind pulled down at all times, as it was floor to ceiling length and the same level as the pavement outside, so anyone at either of the takeaways (one of which is 24/7) outside would have looked straight in. Last but not least, the ‘hotel’ is situated in a petrol station forecourt.

I would not recommend staying at Hotel Holloway Birmingham. I travelled from London to Birmingham to attend a close friend’s wedding and expected a comfortable and relaxing stay. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing, and the condition of the room was far below what should be expected from any hotel. The toilet door lock was broken, compromising privacy, and the bed sheets had visible stains on them, raising concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. The towel rail was also broken, and there was a significant leak from the toilet in the bathroom which worsened throughout the night. In addition, there was visible mould growth on the bathroom air vent, further highlighting the poor condition of the room. It is unacceptable for a room to have so many faults at the same time. These are basic maintenance and cleanliness standards that any hotel should be able to meet. To make matters worse, on the morning of checkout I became unwell and was vomiting. At around 10:00am, I contacted reception to explain the situation and politely asked if I could leave 10–15 minutes later to allow myself time to clean up and shower. I was told I would need to pay an additional £20 for a late checkout. Given the circumstances, I found this response disappointing and lacking compassion. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing stay. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others.
