Set in a beautiful location , surrounded by a golf course and some very nice properties . The hotel /spa health club is full of character and very different to the norm . The health club and spa is obviously a big area of business for the hotel and much of the front car park is reserved for members . The hotel entrance hallways , bars and restaurant are wood panelled with a darkish wood which gives character but I felt some areas and certainly my room could do with a freshen up . It was nice enough, well appointed and reasonably comfortable . I decided to have a pizza and a glass of wine in my room and it was delicious . My only real complaint is a common gripe of mine , in that when I checked out at 7am the person on the desk , I assume the night clerk, had no clue how to work the computer to produce invoices etc. the queue of two of us took an age to get released and the efforts of the clerk were painful to watch .

Stay was a short business trip. The staff are friendly but it almost seems robotic. Room was not cleaned very well. There was no shower gel the first morning so i removed the top of bottle and left it in the bath to show it needed replaced. It was still there when i came back so i can assume the bath/shower hasn't cleaned. Went ot irder room service and that wasn't available so I was booked into the restaurant which was a carvery. Food was fine.

Shocking
My stay was horrific! I booked a room with a lot of space and a big bed, the shower and bathroom was not up to standard. My room was also right next to the events venue of the hotel and the music was blasting. I was told that the party would end around 12:30am. I was told that there were not many rooms left. I got reception to show me to around 5 other rooms. Two of these were again, next to the events rooms and the music volume was insane, one room smelt of smoke, the other of damp and the 5th that I decided to spend the night in was tiny and cramped, it was hot and the bed was a joke!! Very uncomfortable. The porter did bring me chips and a coke and the next day my pizza and 1 beer was taken off the bill. Breakfast was also terrible for a 4 start hotel. After spending GBP160 for my room, an hour looking for a new room and the above mentioned I will never book into this hotel again or recommend it to others.

Wonderful staff, service and food
We were staying just one night as we were on a course nearby. I feel the pics online dont do the hotel justice, our room was lovely, bedding really comfortable, the grounds a beautiful! Most of all we were impressed by the staff at this hotel, amazing customer service and helpful, cheery attitudes! We stayed half board and were realky wowed by the dinner! Lots of choice and courses included! My only criticism would be that the pool and leisure facilities are a bit small for the size of the hotel and not quite as beautiful as the rest of the hotel

I would advise to go to elsewhere
The actual hotel itself is beautiful however the interiors of the rooms are in desperate need for a refurb. The roast was really disappointing as you can see everything was boiled and barely roasted. The manager at the restaurant did try to rectify this by giving us a dessert from the oak room restaurant which was lovely. The spa itself was nice however the overall quality is low with limited facilities. The massage was good.

Good afternoon Lydia, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, however I am disappointed that you were unhappy with the Country Kitchen on this occasion - hopefully the complimentary dessert from our a la carte restaurant was a better option for you. The rooms are currently being refurbished and this is a project that is ongoing, when you book there is the option to have a standard room or to upgrade to a superior, subject to availability.

First and Last time
I booked a stay for one night in hopes it would meet my expectations given the mixed reviews. My experience was not the case. I did pre checkin to make it easier and didnt know about the room hold ok I can see past that. The room was not great and not what i thought it would be . I asked for a quiet room but was given one near the reception so could here all the music that was playing well into the early morning as well as other guests passing. Cracks the paint and wall a very musty consistent smell, the toilet was not clean, bath had cracks on the exterior. Bed was uncomfortable to sleep in. Breakfast staff were pleasant but when i had a query on dining for the evening and went to reception my expectations of help were not met. This is not what I expected from a 4 star hotel. Not sure if all rooms had been renovated however based on this I wont be returning.

We do have rooms which are classed as noise rooms and these are not allocated near reception so i am surprised to hear that you were affected by noise - had you mentioned this to the team, we would have made every effort to move you somewhere more suitable. We do have Duty Managers onsite at all times so i would encourage you to let us know any issues at the time so that we can rectify these for you rather than you going away unhappy.

Room was basic with no air conditioning although the bathroom looked like it had recently been updated. Good food at breakfast. Friendly staff (albeit gave us incorrect directions to our room!). Small bar but no food served after 9pm.

I cancelled our trip due to my wife having covid, and being unable to travel. You refused to consider any refund on our £700 expenditure, and then you have the temerity to ask us about our trip. What a load of tripe about you caring about our opinion. Please reconsider our refund and I may be in a position to enjoy your hotel in the future, and give a more positive respopnse.

Nice hotel but bar staff need more training.
Lovely hotel in a great location. Bar staff seemed not managed and the service was terrible, arguing amongst themselves in front of customers, totally disorganised, waiting 10 minutes for 4 drinks several times, all other areas including reception and restaurant staff completely different, happy smiles and ready to please. We had a problem where our room had not been cleaned, went to reception twice and it got sorted out.

Staff room and grounds nice. Spa is a little run down which is unfortunate as it comes at an extra charge of £10 per head. Bar staff are slow but breakfast staff excellent!!

Pretty good
Very pleasant stay, room was in good order and well laid out. The only issue I found, was the corridors were dark and the directional signage could have been better. I had to ask a couple of people where my room was! Also better signage for the lift and stairs would benefit the customer experience.

Pleasant
Stayed in a single room and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, including bathroom. It was spotlessly cleaned and felt very homely. My only complaint would be that there seemed to be a heavy door directly underneath my room which would slam intermittently through the evening/night and almost shake the whole room. The sink was slow draining as well. However, overall pleasant stay and would stay again.

Bad night sleep
The hotel is lovely and clean but the bed was really uncomfortable, both myself and my friend (shared a twin) hardly slept due to the uncomfortable mattresses in the room
