Welcome to The Gate House, a restored country home in the Shropshire village of Claverley. It's a house that's been designed to be lived in. The rooms are generous, the gardens are private, and almost every space encourages you to slow the pace for a while.

Original beams, oak floors and a log burner give the house its character, while the kitchen and bathrooms have been updated to a very high standard. It feels like an old house that has quietly moved with the times.

The Gate House sleeps up to eight guests and is equally suited to a weekend away or a longer stay.

The house

The sitting room is the first place you'll want to claim. Light the fire when it's cold outside, stretch out on the sofa and forget about the time.

The kitchen is where everyone ends up.

There's an AGA, a large island, a wine cooler, air fryer, and enough room for people to cook without constantly apologising for being in each other's way. The dining table sits alongside the family area beneath a vaulted ceiling, with large windows looking straight out onto the garden.

Outside

If the weather behaves, you'll probably spend most of your stay outdoors.

The heated swimming pool is for your exclusive use, and the outdoor kitchen means lunch has a habit of turning into dinner. Fire up the pizza oven, put something on the BBQ, or settle into the Breeze House while somebody else does the cooking.

It's an easy house to spend a full day in without feeling like you should be somewhere else.

As the property is in the countryside, it's common for the occasional fly or small insect to get inside. We have an automatic insect trap in the garden room/kitchen to help manage this, so you may occasionally notice a dead fly or insect in that area. Please be assured that the property has been thoroughly cleaned before your arrival.

Bathrobes are available on request at £7.50 per robe (adult or child). Please request this at the time of booking so we can prepare them for your stay.

Pass the Keys® provides a hotel standard of service for short-let properties. The property is professionally maintained and cleaned, and professionally cleaned linens and toiletries are guaranteed.

The local community-based Pass the Keys® team personally inspects the property and certifies the home has met Pass the Keys® Property Readiness Standard.

IMPORTANT: On behalf of our host at Pass the Keys, we require guest verification facilitated by Truvi (Previously called Superhog). Upon confirming your booking, Truvi will contact the lead booker via a secure link, providing detailed instructions for the verification process.

The online verification requires a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card. During this process, you may choose between a refundable GBP 500 deposit (plus GBP 10 transaction fee currency equivalent) or purchase a non-refundable damage waiver of GBP 40 (currency equivalent) to cover potential damages during your stay.

Once the verification process is successfully completed, check-in information will be provided. If you opted in for a deposit, this will be refunded via credit/debit card after your stay, subject to an inspection of the property.
