“We stayed in a four poster bedroom in late October 26. The hotel is a fascinating place (in a good way). Steeped in history but extremely well maintained. The bedroom was superb, luxurious and super clean with a very comfortable bed.
We had both evening meal and breakfast at the hotel. Both were exceptional and decent value too.
The staff were all professional, polite and friendly.
Only minor gripe is the parking. The hotel parking itself is small and tight. Plus you will need to be there...

“Do not use the postcode alone as it takes you further up the road to the wrong property.
Only stayed for 2 nights while we did the big hike marathon but the property was very nice, it could do with a little TLC for minor things on the decor but nothing that really bothered us. Very close to Bakewell & a lovely pub over the road with nice food & service. Bit tight on parking but we managed to get on no problem. All in all a lovely stay & would like to return again.”

“Pet friendly stay for One night . Clean and comfortable. Didnt have dinner, breakfast very nice , lovely lady serving. Fresh milk delivered first thing in the morning a nice touch.
Charge of £25 PER NIGHT for a pet I believe is excessive. £20 per stay seems the average these days . So I suppose £25 per stay would be acceptable for the quality of establishment. NOT £25 per night though !”

“Nice lounge to relax and read. Breakfast was great quality, lots of choice and good coffee!
We booked a private room with ensuite which was in the barn annex. This was basic, but ok, but the heating wasn't working in that building. Soaking wet after 20mile walk. Staff eventually moved us to another private room, 4 bed, in the main building.
On arrival at 5pm was told to order dinner before 6.30pm as there was a large group booked in at 7pm. So we did at 6.00pm only to be told the chef was now...

“Will not be returning, staff not helpful at all, dog friendly but couldn’t even let the dog have a sausage at breakfast as they had ran out, they had also ran out of biscuits for the room, garden peas and orange juice. Not a cheap nights stay so these things should not be running out!! Best staff were the morning we were leaving, had they had been on all weekend it would have made it a more pleasant stay”

“Absolutely beautiful hotel set in gorgeous grounds. On arrival I joked with my husband that we were probably in an attic room 😄 and we were! but despite the stairs the room was great, big enough with a great bed. Cleanliness was excellent and bathroom huge with great fluffy towels, staff on reception were so pleasant and friendly both day and night.
Breakfast hot and plentiful with choices for everyone. Will definitely stay again but perhaps in a ground floor room 😀”
