Peaceful Spot for Respite

My group was in the area for a celebration of life for my late husband. We were gathering at Betsy’s Barn down the road, and this property was the perfect homebase for the weekend events. Plenty of space for us to enjoy each other’s company and have privacy. And those views….ahhhh! The property was easy to access and bot far from Boo e. I would come again when in the area.

ASU Alumni Weekend

Overall had another great visit to the Alma mater. We wish the lower level was given some cleaning and maintenance attention- unable to use the level due to the spiderwebs and noticeable lack of vacuuming for quite some time. Hot tub was not useable due to the lack of upkeeping. Wish the hosts took some time to check in with the dust and spiderwebs more often.

Very spacious with beautiful views

Open floor plan offers room to spread out especially with extended family with young children. Fire pit was a big hit and privacy was an added bonus!

Beautiful home, you will need to clean

I was excited to be checking in for our 3 night stay and received a call/voicemail from the property mgmt company at 2:30 pm that housekeeping would not be ready for 4 pm check in. That was a bit disappointing, as I waited for a confirmation call that the property was ready at 5 pm that never came (I had to call and let them know at 5:20 that we were just going to go). The initial impression was that the house was beautiful and well-appointed, and the view did not disappoint. However, I did have to go through the entire home with cleaning wipes, Lysol spray (the carpet in the stairway to the basement had a bit of a smell) and a wet Swiffer to feel comfortable with my family walking around with socks or bare feet (I used six floor pads, and they were all dirty). The house definitely appeared clean to the naked eye, but could use a deep clean. There were no shortage of spiderwebs and dead bugs in the rafters, wall corners, and deck spaces. I was extremely disappointed when we found that the previous renters had left an overloaded dishwasher full of dishes that had not been run before they left, because housekeeping should have caught that, and we had to spend time reorganizing and washing someone else’s dishes. The shower in the downstairs bathroom did not function properly and the drains in the main and upstairs bathroom were extremely slow, (I put in a call about this and never received a response to my request for service). Besides all of this, the house had all that we needed for our stay, amazing views for watching the sun rise, and was conveniently located to shopping and restaurants in Boone. I would definitely recommend, but with the caveat that you should bring bug spray and be prepared to clean to enjoy all of the house.

Memorial Day escape

We had a great time. The weather didn’t always cooperate, but we still had a blast with the air hockey and shuffleboard and darts. The kids even played Pitfall on the Atari like we did when we were kids. We were able to have s’mores outside at the fire pit and it was cold enough to build a fire indoors for a cozy night. Great house and view.

Mom's Weekend Away

Great reconnecting with girlfriends who are all in a busy season of our lives. We never left the house but to take walks. We had an amazing time and we will be back!

This property is amazing

This property exceeded my expectations. We will definitely be back next year. The only reason I did not rate this property with 5 stars is because during our stay it snowed 6-8 inches and there wasn’t any snow shovels provided. Needless to say we were trapped in the house for 2 full days. Please note that if you are planning a trip here the driveway is steep. 4 wheel drive was not helpful when it’s covered with snow.

Perfect for Family Getaway

Our family so enjoyed our holiday stay at Bald Mountain Lodge. There were just a few amenities that would have made our stay 5 star - Pot holders and dish rags in the kitchen - we struggled to find something to pull hot pans out of the oven. There was no heat in the basement and there was a bedroom that was used and it was cold, very cold. There was no snow shovel that we could find and we really could have used to shovel off the decks and steps to make it safe. Otherwise, the house was lovely - plenty of room, clean, comfortable and inviting.

Wonderful!

My husband and I rented the cabin as a getaway. It was the first since having our daughter. Due to covid, we have been very strict with outings, so this was perfect! Very relaxing and beautiful views!! The directions we received prior to going, and the book at the house regarding the home were very helpful. The home was warm and cozy, and we can't wait to go back. Thank you for providing us with tome to reconnect!

Perfect Retreat

We were guest for 4 nights. It was a beautiful cabin and will never stay anywhere else. We loved the modern touch but still a traditional look. The shuffleboard was so much fun. Only issue was the downstairs getting a little smokey while we had fire upstairs. The downstairs damper was closed but possibly not all the way closing? Wife and parents especially loved the warm fire in the den as well as the perfectly laid out kitchen. Can't wait to go back

Beautiful rental unit that should have received a 5 star rating; however, these were the causes for a less than a 5 star rating: 1. Hot tub not available due to the serious bacteria Legionnaires Disease...it was the timing of notifying us that caused the greatest concern. Carolina Cabin Rentals were responsive and handled the situation to our satisfaction but we feel the owner was not diligent. 2. The house was dirty and had to be cleaned by us. The main level and top level were dirty and the bottom level was very dirty including dust, cobwebs and spiderwebs. We cleaned the floors, ceilings and dusted throughout. Carolina Cabin Rentals were responsive and offered to have the home cleaned but we declined and cleaned it ourselves. The owner was the last one to stay at this property and we were amazed that the owner would be so uncaring. 3. The downstairs was also musty and damp. Carolina Cabin Rentals was extremely responsive by correcting the problem that evening. A dehumidifier was delivered a few hours after reporting this problem. It made a huge difference. A gallon of water was extracted every four hours. 4. There is a string of outdoor lights by the fire pit that could not be used. We restrung the lights and it's beautiful but there are at least 10 bulbs missing, burned out or broken. This was not mentioned to Carolina Cabin Rentals. SUMMARY: Excellent house, excellent rental agency, negligent owner.

Beautiful Mountain home

We enjoyed our stay at Bald Mountain Lodge. The house was as expected from the pictures and virtual tour. Owners have fully stocked the home in addition to many other extras. We loved the basement game room. Upon arrival the home appeared neat and clean, but it became obvious quickly that it was in need of a deep clean. Our feet were black and there were cobwebs, spiders and bugs in every nook and cranny. Although we realize that the home is in the woods, we found dozens of spiders, crickets and daddy long legs inside daily. We could not utilize the outdoor amenities as we had hoped, such as the porches, fire pit and hot tub, due to the spider webs, bugs and debris. Finally, it is important to note that the house is not sound proof at all. From each floor, you could hear everything from the floors above and below as if the person was in the room with you. This made it hard to sleep and there was no real privacy as noises traveled easily from bathrooms and bedrooms.

Beautiful Home & Stunning Views

Everything was as described and then some. House came with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well equipped with all of the essentials. This felt like home away from home for our one week stay. Plenty of seating in the open living room, dining area, kitchen layout. The game room down stairs was a great addition with the hot tub right outside. The owners provided great recommendations for dining and other activities. Booneshine Brewery was delicious! Will definitely be a repeat visitor.

An Amazing Week in Todd, NC

We stayed for a week in Todd, NC at the Bald Mountain Lodge. My family could not have asked for a better house or location. The house is in impeccable shape. Clean sheets and towels, great mattresses, all the kitchen utensils we needed for cooking throughout the week. Great televisions (though we only used once the entire week). The owners have graciously provided mountain bikes, river rafting tubes, and kayaks for renter use. And we used all of the equipment. The view is amazing and the family loved finishing the day in the hot tub looking out over the mountains each night. We will definitely be going back to this house.
