The house was great, everything was nice and tidy, down to the “felt like new” white towels and linens. The decor was beautiful and made you feel as though you were “at home.” The open kitchen and family room allowed for fun fellowship among the 8 of us there. The views were amazing and there is a lot of space on the property to go outside and have fun.
This next part has NOTHING to do with the house, but I feel led to warn others…. It just so happened to snow about 4-5 inches while we were there and the wind gusts were high in addition to it being 20 degrees.
The road that leads to the house is private (thus not maintained by the county with snow plowing or salt) and STEEP at the beginning. One night as we were returning home, there was a car stuck in the snow in front of us on the private road, so we could not go forward. We eventually slid down the road backwards as we attempted to back up, to make way for a tow truck. We then had to be towed. And yes, we were in a 4WD truck.
So, I say all of that to say, if you are not 100% sure your tires are able to drive on ice, I do not recommend you try to go here when there is a chance of snow.
I will say the neighbor that helped us was a blessing! He said he has “studs” in his tires. He saw us walking from our stuck vehicles and drove us the 1/2 mile we had left to go to get back to the house.
I would go back to this house, but not in the winter. I’m too paranoid now!
