The Grand Mesa Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest is a great day trip destination from Grand Junction, Colorado. In October it can be quite cold at 10,000 feet in elevation, but the aspens are absolutely beautiful in autumn. This view is from Powderhorn Ski area.
