The day before our intended stay, my, husband was emergently hospitalized; and the following day was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. I reached out to the owner, Anthony, to see whether we could reschedule, or get a credit or refund. He was very understanding about the circumstances, but said NO. So our two friends from NY, with whom we were vacationing, decided to go ahead and make the trip on their own. They were so disappointed by what they found that they left immediately and went to a hotel. They described the neighborhood as "sketchy/iffy," and " in the middle of nowhere," said they had to travel down an unpaved road to get to the property, and that the house although very clean was very "worn ". They said the photos on vrbon didn't represent the reality of the house and location. They also spoke to Anthony, who again was very nice but also unwilling to offer any kind of refund etc. I understand that we "missed the cancelation deadline, " but would have hoped that an unexpected diagnosis of a very serious cancer might have led to some accommodation. We're 2 couples on fixed incomes, and this whole thing has hit us hard, especially under the circumstances
