The horse stable is at ground level, has wide doors, no steps, and a flat, rimless shower. The entryway is 3x3 meters wide. The living/bedroom area, with a wooden beam ceiling, is approximately 42 square meters and has a total of 4 beds—2 of which are bunk beds. It features a kitchenette, a seating area, a dining area, and cable TV. The total living area of the apartment, including the bathroom and entryway, is approximately 60 square meters.
You can get out of your car right in front of the front door.
Amenities: Cable TV, radio, Wi-Fi, coffee maker, freezer, Senseo coffee machine, washing machine, dishwasher, and microwave, as well as patio furniture and a grill.
You can also rent bicycles. Guests with limited mobility can move around easily with a walker or wheelchair.



Hello and welcome to our farm in Ruh!

Peace and relaxation in East Frisia, away from the tourist hustle and bustle—that’s what many of our regular guests of all ages appreciate, as they’ve been spending the best weeks of the year at our farm for more than 30 years.
The vacation farm was originally a farmhouse for one family and 8 cows—a small-scale farmstead, like many that used to exist here in the old days. Since milking became less and less profitable, we no longer run a commercial farm. We’ve been retired for quite some time now, and we keep—both at our home at the other end of the village and at the vacation rental—four ponies, goats, chickens, geese, ducks, and various small birds, and we make hay bales in our fields.
Our farm property is located at the edge of the village. Behind it lies the “Ostfriesland Hiking Trail”—a former narrow-gauge railroad track that has been converted into a walking and biking path. Here, you can enjoy undisturbed hiking and biking tours. You can rent bicycles from us.
Families with children especially appreciate being able to let the little ones “run free” without worry. With so many activities available on the farm and in the surrounding area, boredom never sets in, and the vacation becomes a truly special experience for our young guests. We often hear: “We only see the kids at breakfast and dinner...”
There’s a playground on the farm with a swing, slide, and seesaw. We also keep farm fowl, such as chickens, geese, turkeys, and ducks, as well as petting animals like rabbits and cats, and ponies for little horse lovers.
During the summer season, the ponies are kept near the vacation rental and can be ridden under the supervision of a knowledgeable person and by prior arrangement. Group walks with ponies on a lead are also popular, and adults are welcome to join as well. In winter, the ponies take a break and are housed in the calf barn here in Meerhausen.
We provide the ponies free of charge. The required escort will be compensated at the current minimum wage.
Brinkum is located in the district of Leer, about a 15-minute drive from the Dutch border. Despite its very quiet setting, Brinkum is conveniently located for travel and is therefore ideal for day trips by car. In no time at all, you can reach any coastal resort or fishing port, as well as any destination in the East Frisian or Dutch inland regions.
