First impression- the front door was open upon arrival. As in, half way wide open. I tried calling the two numbers provided in my email for the cabin rental company and they did not answer. It said it was after hours and it wasn't even 6 o'clock yet. I sent an email and message on VRBO right away. It was very unsettling all of us remained in the cars while we stared at this open door and darkness. Eventually my husband went inside to check it out. He said nobody was in there and the back door was open but less then the front. I continued calling mumbers from my car. When I finally went inside and looked around for myself, I finally recieved a phonecall from a rep. for the cabin rental. His initial questions were how open the door was and if the TV's were still there or stolen off the walls? Therefor, my first impression was not a good one. First night's sleep was scary after the arrival we had. The cabin was well stalked, including the kitchen with all pots/pans/utensils. And close to the lake except there was a lot of traffic due to the holiday weekend. We are still a little shaken of how it was at check-in. We didnt know if anyone was in there or had been. We have heard of squatters staying in rentals when not in use. You can imagine everything that ran through our minds. And we had children with us. The final thing the rep. said to me on the phone was along the lines of : your husband checked it out so it should be good.
