Centrally located on island with easy access to Driftwood Beach and Historical District. Well apportioned house with good supplies for meal prep. While we recognize that it is not common for temperatures to be in the 40's on Jekyll, the heater was not able to keep up with keeping the house warm during several days of our stay. The owners need to consider addressing this issue since we could not get the temperature above 62-65 for several days. Otherwise, a great vacation property.

We were sad the beach access had been damaged and we weren't able to use it. But we walked to one a block over. The place could use a deep clean: sticky kitchen handles & drawers, dust on curtains, etc. But the house space and rooms met our family's needs! We would have liked more kitchen linens: hand towels and washcloths

Multiple masters, but the front, guest house and twin beds are in desperate need of replacement. the buffets in kitchen need to be cleaned out so they can be used for storage. lots of junk and papers in there.

Stay here hear after year and make same recommendations year after year. New mattresses throughout are needed. The twin beds slant at the end because they are so old. Kitchen is well stocked, BUT the buffets need to be cleaned out- so much JUNK in there. Needed for storage

Island Retreat is our perfect retreat eight of us.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second year in Island Retreat, and it fits all our needs perfectly. With only a few exceptions, we have been coming to Jekyll for 40 years. Our kids, and grandkids regard it as an integral part of the year, as do we. Island Retreat meets the needs of all 8 of us. We range from 7-80. The house is basically one-story, a mobility issue for us. We occupy the independent master, the kids have the other 2 masters, and the grandkids have the other two bedrooms, by gender, and share a bathroom. There are four common spaces, DR, where we do games, puzzles, and such. LR where we can all watch movies, do gaming, hold family meetings. Kitchen, with a square table perfect for 8, and for our artist to work on her watercolors. We eat a large percentage of our meals here, and the kitchen is well supplied We bring a flip waffle maker, and large stock pot, but these are preferential items as the house does have them. There is plenty of work space, and we have had family birthday, Father’s Day and anniversary celebrations, plus tea parties in the space. There is a screened-in back porch, with a ceiling fan, that’s perfect for reading, screen time, conversations and just relaxing. It’s very near the beach, comes with a pool pass, and is on a bike path. Perfect for us. The house has been clean, when we arrive, and well maintained. When problems have occurred, Jekyll Realty has taken care of them promptly. There is plenty of storage, and 2 refrigerators, multiple coffee makers, and blenders. We do keep bagged ice, as the icemaker can’t, quite keep up with us. The clothes cabinet in the separate master, is about 4’ tall, not quite long enough for a tunic, but there is plenty of drawer space. The king beds are quite high, we manage, but it could be a problem for some. We really like Island Retreat, and have our reservations for next year.

This is our 5th year renting same house. It is large and accommodates all of us well. There are things like mattresses and rugs in bathrooms that are in dire need of replacement. We make that recommendation yearly. Maybe before next year! The outside shower is nice as well as hose at entry door. Needs deep clean for sure.

We stayed at Island Retreat with our daughters and loved the house. Our friends joined us for a few days and they appreciated having a master suite. My in-laws stayed in the attached suite and raved about it. The beds are comfortable and there is room for everyone to gather in the living room. The decor is perfect!! We ate a few dinners in and loved having plenty of seating for everyone. The beach access is only 2 houses away. My only suggestion is that the house needs a really good deep clean. The white cabinets, doors and light switches need attention. The glass doors in the bathrooms need some bleach and a good scrub. However, it certainly wasn’t bad enough to ruin anything. I would definitely rent this home again.

Nice Extended Family Getaway

Our extended family enjoyed everything about the home. It suited our needs completely. Our check-in process could have been better. We were prompted to provide our arrival time several days in advance, which we provided and met in accordance with the published guidelines. However, we still had to wait over an hour for final cleaning and disinfecting. There was also an unusual and somewhat unpleasant odor in the house upon initial entry. We were told it was the disinfectant that had just been used and it should disipate within an hour or so, but it lingered until the next day. If I am required to provide and arrive within a window of time, shouldn't I expect that the property will be ready in that window??? Otherwise, this was a great trip.

The kitchen was very well equipped. The only problems we saw was that the bunk room had no air conditioning or ceiling fan but there were several electric fans available and the exhaust fan did not work in one of the bathrooms. Otherwise everything was great and we would definitely recommend this house to others.

Jekyll Island is charming, and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our reunion there. Island Retreat was a perfect accommodation for us--conveniently located and providing more than enough amenities. Nice house for a family group

The house had plenty of room for our group of 9 (one infant in a pack-n-play) and could have accommodated two more in the bedrooms. The location was great with a beach walkover at the end of the cul-de-sac and driftwood beach a short drive or bike ride away. We would book this house again!

The separate bedroom suite was more than we imagined-ideal for grandparents. We loved the location. Easy beach access right down the street. When the high tide was up and we couldn’t head to the beach there we would take a short drive to Great Dunes and hit the beach there. Using the Days Inn pool was super easy.Also the convenience of having sheets and towels was great!All in all we had a great experience staying at the Island Retreat and would definitely return.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful week staying at Island retreat. The house was large enough for our friends and family who shared the house with us. My in-laws loved their private suite that is attached to the house. It is much larger than the pictures show. It was helpful to have 3 full bathrooms in the house with 4 adults and 2 college kids trying to get ready at the same time. We made a few dinners for our group of 8 and the kitchen had everything we needed as well as enough seating for everyone to be in the same room. The decor was exactly what you'd want to see and the furniture was very comfortable. The only negative was that the house was in need of a deep clean. All the white furniture, cabinets, doors, and floor molding needed attention as did the inside of the kitchen drawers and cabinets. However, in no way was it a deal breaker. I would absolutely rent this home again!!
