  • Cape Top: Dog Friendly, Oceanfront 2-story Duplex. This unit is on the top floor and within walking distance to multiple shops and restaurants, or take a short scenic car or bike ride to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

    An easy walk from the Buxton Highway 12 shops and restaurants, this top-floor, Cottage Avenue Duplex home has a shared pool, two bedrooms, and is super-close to the beach and ocean. You'll enjoy the semi-oceanfront location, the central AC, the full kitchen, the bedrooms, and the bath when you want to come to the beach to enjoy all that it has to offer. Need a little extra space for your friends or extended family? You can rent Cape Bottom which occupies the same building as a separate unit with its own entrance. Don't forget: this home welcomes up to four dogs, so every family member can come along! Whether you're here for three nights or three weeks, you'll enjoy the beach life with Cape Top.

    Things to know:
    You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check-in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.


    Please note: Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open Mid-May to Mid-October, depending on the weather.

    Please Note: As a barrier island, Hatteras is constantly changing. Beach conditions, dunes, and access points may vary due to erosion, restoration projects, weather, and other environmental factors.
    Property may require a higher clearance vehicle to access due to constant shifting sands.

We enjoyed our stay in thos house, but it was short lived due to the houses collapsing in Buxton. Vacasa did move us to a safer location. We had a decent view from the porch and after rhe houses fell, it truly became ocean front. This house waa great for a small family.

Great place to stay near the ocean but not for a family vacation

Clean house, great views, comfortable beds, nice tvs. Not for children or for relaxing on the beach though due to the damaged homes and lack of beach at high and low tide. Recommend for fisherman or couples getaway

Perfect for a small family

This house was perfect for our family of 3. Proximity to the beach was fantastic and overall cleanliness was great. Our only gripe was the number of stairs we had to climb to enjoy, but if you enjoy a good workout after a day at the beach. This is the perfect spor for you.

Great location for the price

Great location just off the beach. The accommodations were nice, but when we arrived there were a couple problems with roof leaks that caused a couple minor drywall/paint issues. The issues were so minor, they did not interrupt our stay. Other than that, place was great.

Cute Little Condo

I rented this condo for a short, impromptu girls weekend with my mom and sister. Since it was just the three of us for only a couple days we didn’t need anything fancy and had our expectations set low. We were pleasantly surprised by this condo. It was well care for and clean. Not just basic floor swept clean, but even then fixtures and window treatments were clean. I honestly can think of one negative thing about the place. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple place to relax for a few days.

This property is not being actively cared for. The drive is overgrown and the ceiling is falling in. The furnishings are horrendous and way outdated. The only good thing is we could bring our dogs.

Run down, dirty, shared laundry, roaches, rude staff

I think the title says most of it. The advertised amenities are not true. This unit has a fantastic view, but the rest of the experience was awful. The unit was filthy, had food on the floor, and was crawling with roaches, despite the additional fees for the “enhanced cleaning protocol.” Don’t waste your money by staying here.

Très bon emplacement proche à 2 minutes dans le sable à pied de la plage. La propriété pourrait avoir un peu de rénovation ex. Plafond troué, rouille un peu partout, pommeau de douche bouché ailettes des trous d'aération ne peuvent être dirigés ;vent directement en haut des lits. Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas une table pour manger dehors, pourtant il y aurait amplement de place. A notre arrivé, nous avons dû laver les fenêtres qui étaient très sales. Arrivé autonome super!, laveuse sécheuse très fonctionnelles, produits inclus. Assez grand et bien divisé.

The property was not checked before we arrived. Had it been they’d have known that the door code didn’t work and THE ONLY STREET TO THE PROPERTY WAS UNSAFE AND UNPASSABLE. We didn’t know how deep the water was, because the street looked level, but it wasn’t. We made it to the property and were stranded there until the water receded enough to safely exit.

Nice place just off the beach

This apartment is just off the beach. Nice location and very quiet. We were on the top floor of a 2 floor duplex which made unpacking a little challenging but the place was spacious enough for our family of 4. Brought 2 dogs with us who enjoyed the beach. Very pet friendly. The only cautions I would give is that this particular location is on a road that floods when it rains. Not a problem for our truck, but might be for a smaller vehicle. And while it is only a mile from the Cape Hatterus Lighthouse, it is an hour to Nags Head. There’s a kitchen and they provide all cooking utensils, but if you plan to go out a lot, there’s not much in Buxton or Avon. The Avon pier provides some nice fishing and there’s a lot of surf fishing. Nice quiet family location.

A place by the beach

The road to the place is a little bumpy but our son’s Prius made it through, just go slow. The unit we rented was on the top floor. So this isn’t exactly a house but more like a condo. The fridge door was missing a handle and looked like it had been hastily painted. We sent a text to management so they knew it wasn’t us. The place was smaller than I expected but the 5 of us did manage to fit into the unit. Just a note on the area, the nearest ER is an hour away in Nags Head. We had to make an unexpected trip. Something to think about if you have medical concerns.
