I recently stayed at this lovely one-bedroom property in Fajã da Ovelha, hosted by Irina, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I chose this spot for its location—it’s on the south coast, where the weather is generally better, and the sea views are stunning. It’s just a short stroll to the coast, and everything felt peaceful and off the beaten path.I came to Madeira for photography, and the location worked perfectly. Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse and Levada are within a 10min drive away, whilst most landmarks like Fanal Forest and the dramatic sea stacks of Ribeira da Janela are within 45mins. Irina was incredibly accommodating, too. My flight was delayed by two days, and she kindly adjusted my booking so I didn’t lose any time—no extra charge, just genuine hospitality. The apartment itself was spacious and cozy for a one-bed. The kitchen was well-equipped, with plenty of fridge space, a great oven, and a reliable gas hob—perfect for cooking after a long day of shooting. It felt like a home away from home. One of the highlights was Irina’s two Alsatians, Essa and Enola. They were friendly and well-behaved, adding to the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Irina herself was lovely—helpful and informative, but never intrusive.Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a great base for exploring Madeira’s photography hotspots, and the hospitality is top-notch. I’d happily stay again!
