Actually, the hotel itself was mostly fine & my room was comfortable, but I was often the only guest & the hotel is literally the only completed & habitated place in this giant conceptualized city. I’m talking hundreds of units with roads & infrastructure all abandoned, with apparently no plans to complete. It’s situated along a beautiful stretch of coast, but there’s no recreational activity anywhere around other than a small sandy beach. The restaurant was closed due to no guests & the acclaimed buffet was non existent, but the breakfast choice was between eggs & noodle soup. I also had a cup of packaged yogurt & fruit, but each time the fruit was 1 slice of something similar to an apple. The rooftop pool was uninviting & the decking & chairs were all ruined. The reception ladies were very nice & helpful & tried to steer me to restaurants in the walking distance real city & helped me to book transportation back & forth to Halong City to do a boat & kayak trip, but it was more than a half hour away & transport was almost as much as the boat trip. Apparently, this hotel caters to people traveling by for a single night.
