Cameras not disclosed.
The house is beautiful and we love the area. It was clean and decorated beautifully. The check in process went without a hitch. Our contact with Roelens -Kurt was wonderful to work with and was prompt in answering any questions we had. I have never given anything but 5 stars on reviews. We have always been blessed to have wonderful homes and great hosts.
My major concern with this house is the indoor camera! I know host have cameras outside and I can definitely understand why. We have outdoor cameras at our home. I don't like the fact that two cameras point toward the pool, but again I can understand wanting security. I do feel like these should be disclosed in the description. I DO NOT believe it is legal to have a camera inside the house and it should have been deactivated before we arrived. The camera was pointed toward the driveway and if they feel like this is necessary fine, however the camera should be installed outside the home. When a blink camera is inside the home every conversation can be heard. This is an invasion of privacy.
My husband and I are 57 and 65 and have nothing to hide, however we did discuss financial information while we where in the home. I did unplug what I thought was the router for the camera, but honestly it made me wonder where else there where cameras in the home.
According to VRBO surveillance policy :
Inside the home:
Surveillance devices cannot be used inside of a property. There are two exceptions to this. Smart Devices (like Alexa) and baby monitors are allowed if the guest is informed on the property’s details page and given the option to deactivate them.
Outside the home
Surveillance devices such as security cameras and smart doorbells are allowed if they follow these rules:
Surveillance devices should only be used for security purposes.
Location and coverage of devices must be disclosed on the property description page. It's not enough to include a photo of the device.
Areas where guests have a reasonable expectation of privacy should not be under surveillance.
Reasonable measures should be taken to limit access to surveillance data.
Surveillance data should be deleted when no longer needed.
