What a wonderful property on an amazing island! Our first trip to NCI and we fell in love with the island. The simplicity of each day was such an amazing break from daily life - no shoes required basically. Gumbo Limbo was by far the most well-appointed property we have rented. The kitchen was outfitted to such a better degree than anything I've seen - kitchenware, pots/pans, blender, ice cream maker, ice maker, the list goes on. Given the need to bring groceries to the island, having a well-equiped kitchen was huge. Otherwise the house was immaculate, well designed and functioned perfectly. For a family of 4 it was just right - not huge by any stretch, but life on NCI is outdoors! Outdoor shower was a huge plus as well. Sandy was super responsive to all of my questions both before and during our stay, can't say enough about the experience from this perspective.Would highly recommend a stay at Gumbo limbo, not one thing to complain about!

A week in paradise at Gumbo Limbo

Gumbo Limbo was heavenly. The house is beautifully decorated and immaculately maintained. Everything we needed was there: a fully stocked kitchen of cookware, filtered water and ice maker, cozy linens, comfy furniture and all beach accessories.The location is perfect, quietly nestled in among the lush landscape and a short golf cart ride to beaches and resort pools.Sandy's advance recommendations, check-in instructions and welcome package surpassed what this professional event-planner expected.We had a few minor questions during our stay and Sandy's response time was lightning fast and helpful.Groceries from Publix/Instacart was a snap and very much needed. There is really nowhere to shop on the island the the little markets are insanely expensive.Advance reservations for over-the-water restaurant highly recommended and remember to bring your own wine/beer when you go there for dinner.We had so much fun exploring all of the beaches and resort offerings. We were completely "at home" in no time. Can't wait to return next year!

Gumbo Limbo Paradise

This property is exactly as described, or better! Sandy, the host is responsive and accommodating, though there were absolutely no issues. The home is immaculate and well appointed with everything needed for a carefree family get away. The property is private, surrounded by lush trees and plants; without a lot of cart or foot traffic. My family loved the outdoor shower for after beach sand removal! The beds and linens were very comfortable. Though an easy 5-10 minute walk to a beach, I would recommend a golf cart rental to comfortably explore the island and transport umbrellas, picnic items, etc to beaches with ease. Sandy is a very informative host, providing recommendations and considerations to make your stay as simple as possible. We thank her for sharing her home with us and will definitely return!!!

Absolutely perfect!

Our family of five stayed at Gumbo Limbo July 6-13, and everyone thought it was perfect! This property is very well maintained, appointed with just about anything you could possibly want, and is very conveniently located in relation to docks and the beach. Sandy (the host) is exceptionally responsive and helpful, especially if this were your first time on North Cap. She sends you an e-packet full of info on logistics, groceries, and island amenities. Morning coffee on the back porch swing was heaven, and the outdoor shower is epic, perfect for washing off the sand and salt! The kitchen? Smh, it's better stocked than our own! The kids loved the upstairs loft, with it's own bath, balcony, and TV. After a long day of beach life, they'd all just crash up there and relax. We've stayed in places up and down Captiva/Sanibel over the years, and combining this house with the overall North Cap vibe, we rate it the best. Thank you Sandy, we really could not have been happier!

Gumbo Limbo was the perfect place. The location is amazing for sure. Sandy was the best hostess and communicator. She helped us with recommendations for all our needs. Unforgettable Family Getaway at Gumbo Limbo in North Captiva Island Home

Our family of six, including two adults and four children aged 4-12, had the most incredible stay at Sandy's beautiful home on North Captiva Island. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm and convenience of this centrally located gem. The kitchen was a dream, equipped with everything we needed to cook every meal. The highlight for the kids (and adults!) was the ice cream machine, which added a fun and delicious touch to our evenings. Access to both island clubs was a fantastic perk, providing us with plenty of activities and entertainment options. Gumbo Limbo thoughtfully provided every beach essential imaginable, saving us from the hassle of lugging extra luggage. From umbrellas to beach toys, we had everything we needed for a perfect beach day. Sandy's responsiveness and dedication to ensuring our stay was perfect truly stood out. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, addressing any questions or needs promptly. The island life was pure bliss – low key, no cars, just relaxation and quality family time. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you, Sandy, for making our stay unforgettable. Best Spring Break Ever!!

Magical island property, perfect fit for our family of four. We loved access to TWO swimming pools, the tennis courts, and endless beach exploration. The house was perfectly appointed, well designed, and we felt right at home upon arrival. Sandy is a true gem - quick communication and thoughtful welcome gifts for the fam. Highly recommend - you will make incredible memories!

Simply Amazing

This is our 4th place we have stayed on the island and it truly was our favourite. We are big tennis players, so proximity to safety harbour was key. Although the house looks at the courts, the neighbour does not allow you to cross his property so the walk is a little longer than expected. Also great to have membership/easy access to island club. Teens loved being able to walk everywhere. House is immaculate and host were wonderful to deal with. Absolutely will be back. FYI cart rental is separate. Not sure anyone ever showered inside, outdoor shower was a bonus.

Gumbo Limbo did not disappoint. Newly remodeled, perfect size for two people looking for something quiet and close to everything. Hosts were quick to respond and great to deal with. Will stay here again for sure!

AMAZING!

Gorgeous home with everything we needed for cooking and beach fun! Really appreciated access to the two clubs' pool and amenities- quite a chilly week so it was great to be able to hit the pool and get out of the wind at the beach. We used Debbie at Fresh Pick Grocery for grocery shopping and delivery, she's fantastic! We will definitely be back, thanks for everything Sandy!

Amazing stay

Trendy, Relaxing, Comfortable, Peaceful & Modern

Gumbo Limbo is a beautiful home, only a short walk from Island Club and Safety Harbor swimming pools with privileges at both. It has a spacious, modern, well-stocked kitchen and an open floor plan with tasteful, lovely furnishings. The owners were only a text away and responded quickly to our questions. With an outdoor shower, we could always wash off the sand from our shell-collecting adventures and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets on the beach before coming inside after our long days on North Captiva. The kitchen has purified drinking water and a wonderful ice machine, paper towels and napkins, and a cabinet with salt and pepper and an assortment of spices. Our bungalow also had a washer and dryer stocked with laundry soap and softener, bath soap, and shampoo and conditioner. The beds are comfortable and a quiet AC kept indoor temps perfect. We had ample clean bath towels and a big basket of beach towels for our use. Don’t forget to reserve a golf cart ahead (cost in summer 2023 is $79/day) as the house did not provide one. The homeowners left us personal notes, treats, and a nice welcome gift. We highly recommend this beautiful beach home and would gladly stay here again.

Wonderful Rental!

This is a beautiful and well maintained rental property. My kids and I really enjoyed our stay on North Captiva and in this property. Lovely furniture, new appliances, and just a nice space to be in -- lots of natural light and a beautiful setting around it. Owners were easy to work with and made the whole process a pleasure. We would love to come back to North Captiva and would jump at the chance to stay in this property again. Thank you!
