Chattooga River: Tours y Actividades

This two-hour journey is quite an effort for the 50-foot Opossum Creek Falls, but depending on your spirit of adventure, reaching the falls is rewarding if not even a bit risky. Most of the two-mile hike ambles along a pleasant, forest service trail shaded by an assortment of hardwoods and bordered at times by small partridgeberry wildflowers. When you reach the Chattooga River, turn left onto a heavily vegetated path and scramble around rocks and trees for a time-consuming half-mile hike to the base of Opossum Creek falls. The steepest part of the trail made for very sore quads the next day for this 40-something mom. (Note this picture is of the Chatooga River, a beautiful scene along the way but not the falls.) An epic waterfall with an enormous amount of flow. The observation area is right at the base of the falls where it is very loud and misty. Somewhat difficult to reach though...A 7 mile round trip hike that is kind of strenuous.
