We had a great weeks stay at Little Mullions. There were two of us and our Labrador and our son joined us for a long weekend from London and we collected him from Kingham station which was really handy. The property was very clean and well equipped and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch (milk, butter, jam, bread, eggs and yoghurt) and there were also teabags and instant coffee.
The house felt warm and cosy when we arrived. The central heating was set to come on should the temperature drop and we were also able to boost it should we wish via a stand alone unit. However we couldn’t have asked for better weather and only really needed to warmth to dry the bath towels, which were large and soft. My only gripe was the electric shower, not that powerful for me but that’s personal preference, the men thought it was fine!
It is an old and quirky house and as described and we loved it. The beds were firm and comfortable for us and blackout blinds in the bedrooms helped as there is a street light right outside the main bedroom. There is a stone flagged floor downstairs which is perfect when you have dogs.
The car parking space is only a few minutes walk away off the main road but you are able to park outside initially to unload as you arrive. We didn’t use the courtyard garden as we were out most days and it was in the shade when we returned but it looks a good space to enjoy in the summer.
We picked this property due to its proximity to Bourton and the fact we were able to walk there, which we did on two occasions, once over fields via Wyck Rissington finishing at the Greystones Nature Reserve and once via the road, which had a path.
We used the local walks book provided and would recommend the circular walk from Broadway Tower to the village and back. The hill back to the tower is a killer though! We prebooked the car park/tower before going and collected our ticket from the cafe shop.
We also did the circular walk from Burford parking in the free car park near the church.
We visited many villages and enjoyed a meal or a drink in most and enjoyed all of them, here’s a few:-
Evening Burgers at Smiths of Bourton
Sunday lunch at the Plough Inn at Ford
Lunch at the Legbar Dalesford on the terrace in the sun ☀️
Dinner at the Kings Head Bledington
Would we come again… definitely
