The host interactions were fine. The apartment was bare-bones and for the price, we expected some nice finishes or welcoming touches. The shampoo pump didn’t work, there were few available or accessible sockets (1-2 per room, some used to power cheap IKEA floor lamps, and others far from where they’d be useful for charging phones), not a single working clock in the place, empty ice trays, frozen water bottles, a fridge that froze everything we put in it, and I could go on. As soon as the apartment door opened into the hallway, the stench of weed was overwhelming, and explaining that to my kids was not my favorite experience. The check in experience was incredibly cumbersome - calling using a code, waiting to be buzzed in, opening a lock box with a second code, retrieving a key, and finally inserting a key and plugging in another code on the keypad (while engulfed in the stench of weed) - it felt like a horrible escape room after a long day of travel. Finally, I requested a late check out since our flight was delayed into the afternoon and while our host offered to accommodate, she would charge us 50 per hour to do so. Again, after paying what we did for such sub-par accommodations, the least the host could do would be to let us check out an hour late
