Highly recommended cosy Cotswold cottage

Our 2nd stay at Winterberry Cottage and we will return again soon, location is ideal being very close to Cirencester and yet we can also enjoy the beauty of the outlying villages.

Lovely, well-equiped cottage in small Cotswold village

Winterberry cottage is a lovely spot to vacation. The cottage is immaculate, cozy and well- equipment. We appreciated the wood laid ready for our first fire and the bottle of wine awaiting our arrival. The only thing we didn’t find at hand was a box of matches to light the fire. The cottage was conveniently located within a quick drive from Cirencester and Burford as well as the Roman ruins nearby. The Village Pub and the Pig Inn are within a two minute walk and were welcoming with delicious food and gravity ales. We would highly recommend the cottage.

Beautiful cottage in the heart of the costwolds.

The cottage itself was beautiful, and done up to quite a high level interior wise and all very clean upon arrival. Instructions to get to the property were fairly clear and we were warned in advance of building work in the adjacent property which was very thoughtful of the team. Couldn't say much to fault the cottage itself, lovely pub close by as well which serves great good. Only issue was trying to get hold of the property manager Richard to check if we could drop out bags at the property early, but it wasn't too much of an issue. Would highly recommend this Winterberry Cottage and StayCostwold

A beautiful cottage.

A beautiful cottage, clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Great to have an outside dining area and safe grassy space for a toddler to play.

Fantastic little cottage!

We stayed at Winterberry for my wife’s birthday with friends. Comfortable, great social space in the kitchen and small well kept garden. Living room sofa’s and beds very comfortable and good water pressure in the showers. Village pub and spa hotel was a few easy steps from the cottage but booking in advance for restaurants recommended!

Well presented and equipped cottage

Winterberry had everything we needed providing a home from home. The cottage was well presented, clean and spacious (for three adults.) Good location for exploring the Cotswolds (Cirencester and Bibury nearby) and Oxford. Would definitely recommend.

Cosy cottage

Very cosy cottage. However cobwebs were evident in every room. Draining board mat needed extensive cleaning. Grouting in showers needed renewing/thorough cleaning. On the good side. Ample room, well equipped and plenty of seating areas. Nice garden.

Comfortable cottage for a family weekend

A lovely comfortable cottage with cosy beds and sofas to flop on. The kitchen was well equipped if a little tired. Very pretty location and only a few yards from the pub. Parking at the cottage was tight and although we left one car parked on the road it wasn’t ideal.

Loved Winterberry Cottage

We spent five days at Winterberry Cottage at the end of October. The cottage is very cozy, has everything that you would need for a family of 4. The heating worked really well when we needed it in the evening. The property manager was very helpful with all of our requests.

Lovely home . Lots of space for socialising - love the layout of the kitchen/diner and outside space. Co Op for provisions 5 min drive away and pub places to eat 2 minutes walk away . Walks on the doorstep .

Weekend away with family

Communication was excellent asked to enter the property early, which they accommodated. Nice touch leaving a bottle of wine. Kitchen had all the amenities to make a good Sunday lunch and there’s plenty of room to entertain six adults.

A Beautiful Cottage in a Very Quiet Village

This is a beautiful cottage and very cosy and comfortable for 6 people. The kitchen/diner is perfect for cooking and socialising over dinner. The living room is very cosy and nice to have a log burner for those wintery evenings. It is also great that they had plenty of seating in the living room for more than 6 people to comfortably sit. The village is very quiet but has a lovely pub and the Pig is on the doorstep if you wanted to visit for lunch or dinner. I would highly recommend and hopefully will be able to return soon!

A short break

We had a lovely few days at Winterberry Cottage and would highly recommend to anybody . Lovely to be able to walk up to Barnsley House Hotel for a champagne afternoon tea . The only thing is I think people should be aware it is not possible to use mobile phones,. There could be a home emergency and people not able to contact . There is a landline available .Maybe the landline no could be put on site after a booking is made ? This did not bother us but could be a problem for others . Thank you , we will be back

Disappointed

This property is not as lovely as it looks in the photos. There were cobwebs and general dust around in every room. The paintwork was patched and messy in some rooms. There were holes in doors and stairs and gaps in floorboards perfect for a two year old to post things through. The garden gate did not close properly so the garden couldn’t be made secure for the two year old. Bolts and doors were difficult to open and shut without quite a lot of force. We asked for a stair gate and high chair and only got the high chair. Stay Cotswold instructed us to contact the property manager about issues, but as a recent review had also mentioned the cobwebs, we doubt they also follow up issues with the property manager. We don’t expect to have to report cleanliness and maintenance issues on arrival at a property! The cottage is in a lovely village with a good pub and close to other Cotswold destinations.

Beautiful cottage, great location.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage, would definitely stay again, very comfortable. Some points just to note: Door security needs attention, when we opened the front door, back doors flew open even though locked, bolts do not work efficiently on either dining room or kitchen stable doors. There was also tremendous drafts from these doors so either attention needed and maybe some curtains. Lights were faulty in dining room so could not turn in but really helpful housekeeper Richard advised they were due to be fixed. We also requested a slightly later checkout which was granted. Some more cutlery would be helpful to so as not to be constantly washing to reuse for one meal.

Lovely cottage in a lovely location.

We had a great time at Winterberry cottage. The start was awful, though! We’d driven to Barnsley through heavy rain, on roads we didn’t know and on arrival found wine, tea and coffee but no milk! The nearest shop is an esso garage near to Cirencester so we had to go without a hot drink until the following day. Shame, as this consideration would have meant so much to us, especially as the three nights there were very expensive. However, the cottage was really lovely. Roomy and comfortable and the location is great for many Cotswolds highlights such as Bourton on the water, Bibury, where we caught some trout, Cirencester and Broadway. The garden is beautiful, neat and very well kept.We were blessed with fine weather (after the first day) and the garden was nice to sit in. The village pub opposite also has a nice garden and a cold pint was very welcome after a long walk. It does get busy, though.

Winterberry Cottage Barnsley

We thought the cottage was in a good location with an excellent village pub very close by. The garden was pleasant. We appreciate the property is an old cottage but we found general cleanliness to be an issue. Cobwebs and thick dust, especially under the beds. Some broken glass on the floor near the dishwasher. Also areas in the kitchen which looked unfinished - exposed pipe work near the boiler. The kitchen was lacking in some basic items - such as a cafetière, which was listed on the website as being stocked, but could not be found. Other small things, lack of soap, the shower not draining effectively and lightbulbs not working (in multiple rooms!) Overall I cannot recommend this cottage, it would probably be worth the owner staying in the property to see what needs to be improved.

A lovely cottage for a relaxing break

Winterberry Cottage is lovely and we have stayed there before. The cottage is very comfortable and well furnished and the layout provides a good social space. We had a couple of small issues (e.g. coffee machine not working) but these were fixed for us promptly. The only slightly negative point to mention is that the parking space is very tight and tricky to get into (and once in place it is hard to get out of and around the car(s). Removing the redundant gateposts would make this a little better.

A few things need attention

Shower in main bedroom unusable. Sent video to owner. Shower in main bathroom doesn’t drain well, have to be fast to avoid overflow. Back gutter where key safe is pours when it rains. Back light doesn’t work. Bottom half of stable door doesn’t lock or catch with top half. Emailed owner to flag the items above but no acknowledgment or response. Rest of cottage was nice.

Great place for family / friends to share a break away. WiFi was great - as no signal on phones. Cosy lounge plenty of seating. Kitchen had almost everything (need cafetière) thanks for milk and teas/coffee ! Comfy beds ! Would imagine summer garden beautiful. Pub across road for food was great. Shortish drive for everything else (although beautiful looking spa hotel that we didn’t visit was a few steps away too) lovely, would absolutely recommend. Few details in welcome pack are out of date or missing - unclear about recycling - WiFi codes., charger for speaker. Contact was great. Easily solved. Thanks.
