  • Spring Hill was the prelude to the Battle of Franklin. On the night of Nov 28, 1864, Gen. John Bell Hood’s Army of Tennessee marched toward Spring Hill to get astride Maj. Gen. John M. Schofield’s Union army’s life line. Cavalry skirmishing between Brig. Gen. James H. Wilson’s Union cavalry and Maj. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest’s Confederate troopers continued throughout the day as the Confederates advanced. On Nov 29, Hood’s infantry crossed Duck River and converged on Spring Hill. In the meantime, Maj. Gen. Schofield reinforced the troops holding the crossroads at Spring Hill. In late afternoon, the Federals repulsed a piecemeal Confederate infantry attack. During the night, the rest of Schofield’s command passed from Columbia through Spring Hill to Franklin. This was, perhaps, Hood’s best chance to isolate and defeat the Union army. The engagement has been described as “one of the most controversial non-fighting events of the entire war."

One of the best properties out there.

We have stayed at many VRBO‘s, but this one really takes the cake. Fresh, clean, and updated throughout, there are so many extra touches that make this place more than anything we could’ve hoped for.Clear communication posted on the walls to help check out, coffee waiting in the refrigerator just in case we didn’t have groceries, a Kitchen overflowing with every necessity, utensil, and piece of equipment… There are so many things that made this stay one of the most peaceful and secure we have ever felt.We would definitely stay here again, and I am so grateful for the thoughtfulness displayed in this home. We didn’t just feel like a special guest, we felt like family.

Amazing stay for all of us!

The home is absolutely immaculate and the nicest rental we have ever stayed in. Susan has thought of every single comfort one would need as if it was your own home and supplies it all and then some. Toiletries, first aid kit, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, coffee, creamer, iron, steamer, fans and much more. The neighborhood is so nice and close to everything and communication was wonderful. I would give this place 100 stars if I could and absolutely will stay here again.

Quick over night stay

My husband & I took his mom & her husband to the Gulf Shores for a week. On the way home we stayed at Susan’s place. It was awesome! Great communication. As soon as we walked in it was very warm & homey! Not cluttered at all. Water & snacks was nice. Also they had a Kurieg & a drip coffee pot. Very nice to have both! Susan gave us a great suggestion for supper at a local tavern & grill, Embers. It was great! We will for sure be utilizing her place again on our next adventures south!
