Camped about 2 miles from Bob Hall pier. Great fishing, not too crowded, Showers & bike rentals, horseback riding, & a bar & grill on the pier. This is what I woke up to the first morning. #BeachBound
Miles and miles of beautiful beach. Malachite beach doesn't allow cars, if you want to drive on the beach go further to South Beach. Very nice facilities at the visitors center.
#beach The Padre Island National Seashore separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre, one of a few hypersaline lagoons in the world. The park protects 70 miles of coastline, dunes, prairies, and wind tidal flats teeming with life. It also has beautiful stretches of road with road access to the beach. Very scenic and very enjoyable!!!

I love the smell of avgas in the morning! Airshow time!! Last year, the US government cut back on defense department spending, which cut into airshow performances around the United States. This year, the US Navy Blue Angels and the US Air Force Thunderbirds have been given the all-clear to perform at various shows around the country. This shot of two Blue Angels F-18 Hornets making a high speed and close pass was taken at the South Texas Airshow on March 29th, at Naval Air Station, Kingsville. You'll see great performances like this at a lot of airshows this year. Check out Milavia.net for this years' airshow calendar for a show near you. Take lots if sunscreen, a hat, drink plenty if water and, of course, a camera with a decent zoom. This shot was taken at 200mm.
