The Cabin

Yopp's Hideaway accommodates 7 guests. The cabin has two private bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with a queen, plus additional sleeping space on the enclosed, heated and air-conditioned porch.
The fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare everything from a quick breakfast to a family dinner. You'll find plenty of cookware, dishes and everyday kitchen essentials, along with coffee and tea to help get your morning started.
There is also a full bathroom with shower and laundry so longer stays are easy and comfortable.

More than just a place to sleep

A stay here is really about what happens outside the cabin.
Spend the afternoon playing cornhole, giant Jenga or horseshoes. Wander the cut paths through the property, visit the pond, relax on the gazebo, or simply find a quiet spot and enjoy the view. In the evening, gather around the firepit for conversation, marshmallows and some seriously good stargazing.
Our pond and gazebo offer a peaceful place to relax, eat outdoors or watch the sunset. The pond is for enjoying the scenery and wildlife rather than swimming or fishing at this time.

Meet the animals

One of the things that makes Whispering Ridge different from ordinary vacation rentals is sharing the property with our animals.
Depending on who's feeling social that day, you may meet the goats, chickens or a few four-legged members of the unofficial Whispering Ridge welcome committee.
We especially love seeing children experience farm animals up close. For everyone's safety, visits inside animal areas are arranged with us rather than explored independently,
This is a working country property, so along with the peaceful parts of farm life, you may occasionally hear animals, equipment or normal sounds of rural living. We think that's part of the charm.

Gather, Play and Reconnect.

We want families to have things to do together here, not just screens to disappear into. Along with the outdoor games, you'll find indoor games and cards for rainy days, quiet evenings and a little friendly family competition.
There's plenty of outdoor space for kids to stretch their legs and adults to actually sit down for a while.
Couples can enjoy a slower kind of getaway too: morning coffee on the porch, walks around the property, sunsets by the pond and quiet evenings by the fire,

Explore the Area.

We are conveniently located near Lake Icaria, giving you easy access to one of southwest Iowa's favorite outdoor recreation areas while still returning to the privacy and peaceful settings of the farm.
The surrounding area also offers small town restaurants, shops and seasonal attractions. We're happy to share some of our favorite local places.
Or don't go anywhere at all. That's a perfectly respectable vacation plan around here.

A Different Kind of Getaway.

Whispering Ridge is not a resort, and we don't want it to feel like one.
It's a place to slow down. Let the kids get excited about the animals. Challenge somebody to a game of cornhole. Sit beside the pond longer than you intended. Watch the sunset. Stay outside after dark because the stars are to good to go inside.
Our hope is that when you leave us you don't just remember where you stayed. You remember what you did together.
