We had a great stay overall. The pool was a highlight on the warmer days—once it got above 75, it was definitely enjoyable, though even heated it still felt like a bit of a chilly plunge. The house gave us plenty of space to truly relax and unwind. One of our favorite routines was heading to the beach after sunset to hunt for ghost crabs—such a fun and memorable experience. The best sunset we caught was at the Currituck Banks Reserve, and we loved seeing the wild horses on a tour that conveniently departed right next door to the house.Mornings were made even better with coffee and pastries from Northern Lights Bakery—the maple frosted donuts and Nutella latte were standouts. For dinner, Fatcrabs Rib Company & Seafood Shack was a go-to. The hush puppies, brisket, and spicy collard greens were all excellent, and having so many food options in one spot made it easy for everyone to find something they wanted without any hassle.Corolla itself was pretty quiet during our stay, with some shops still closed for the season, but Duck, North Carolina offered a livelier atmosphere when we wanted a change of pace. Our best meal, hands down, was at Sunset Grille & Raw Bar. We timed it just right before sunset and got an incredible view to go with great drinks and simple, well-prepared local seafood—oysters, shrimp, and scallops. No frills, just really good food and an experience we won’t forget.
