Very nice home but needs upgrade in living room furniture

This was a very nice home. We loved this house but the living room furniture needs an major upgrade. For a house that sleeps 12, there are only 4 seats in the main living area. These chairs are also very small and uncomfortable. A sectional sofa would have been nice to have in this area. The beds were nice and comfortable.

Beautiful community on the Dunes!!

Tabby’s Retreat is very spacious and clean!! Location is easy and close to access beach - walking or by golf cart!! Very lovely community!! We will return again!!

Great beach house

We really enjoyed our stay here! There was plenty of space! I might recommend some gates for the stairs if families would be staying here because of how steep the steps are. We brought our own but needed 2. Not necessary but could be helpful for families! The only thing I would say that bothered me a little was in the master bedroom on the 2nd floor. The door did not have any cover/shades and you can see into most of the room through the windows on the door. Felt uncomfortable with houses directly across being able to see into it. We are also not morning people & the sun was beaming in my eyes at 7am making it hard to get some extra sleep. Aside from that we loved how close we were to a pool & plenty of parking! Not a long walk from the boardwalk either. Will definitely plan another trip!

Beautiful house, great location

We loved our stay at Gabby’s Retreat. Location is great, right next to a pool. House is perfect for a family with a bunch of kids. Furniture is nothing extravagant, but perfect for kids. House was clean and bright. Mattresses and pillows were surprisingly good—everyone slept well and there were more mattresses than needed. Kids loved the third floor game room, which came equipped with a PS4 and great couch plus cozy bunk beds. Only weird things related to the place were: 1) a couple large, vertical windows without coverings next to doors. My daughter didn’t want to sleep in one of the rooms because there was no way to cover that window and it let in a lot of light. Then my wife came up to the middle floor (kitchen & family room) while wearing just a towel after her shower..she was looking for a hairbrush. Then she sees the family in the house across from us staring at her through the window that doesn’t have a covering. Weird, but maybe some people don’t mind. Last thing: if you love to cook or plan to cook at home, their utensils are pretty lacking. The only two spatulas are both damaged and either broken or melted and disfigured (rendering them useless). We were constantly searching for different things in the kitchen and not being able to find them. Plenty of plates and cups and silverware, which was good, but I’m glad we at least brought our own coffee grinder, salt, and pepper. A/C was strong, as was the wifi. PLENTY of towels, which was fantastic. We enjoyed the layout of the house, the coziness of the beds, and really loved our time there.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: In general, it was fine. Some hiccups -- Downstairs bedroom - stained coverlet (urine? I left a note) and non-functioning TV. Need a colander in kitchen, otherwise pretty well equipped. "Top amenities" are said to include cable/satellite. This unit has neither. We're not big "streamers" so it took time and effort to subscribe to various channels. Would have been nice to know that this unit lacks this particular "top amenity" in advance. Also wasn't clear that ALL bedcovers were laundered after every stay. Recommend duvet covers that can be removed and washed with sheets. Bathrooms were clean and well-stocked with towels, shampoo, etc.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at this townhome recently & had a pretty good overall experience. The location right next to the pool is awesome!! I felt good about letting the teenagers go back & forth & it was easy to run back to the room to grab things we needed. The TV's don't have cable which really upset my husband because it was the NBA finals.. They do have Netflix if you have your own account to sign in with. For the price of this condo it definitely should have cable TV! Also, the kids stayed in the upstairs game room & the PS 4 doesn't work which was annoying.The biggest issue for me personally was the coffee pot is broken. It will turn on to brew for 10 seconds then turn off. I'm a lady who needs her coffee to be a decent human being in the morning so that was rough..The decor is sparse so it doesn't have a very "homey" feel like the condo we rented from Palmilla last year. It was very clean though despite being kind of bare.The downstairs bathroom door is hanging off the hinge & won't close & there were little ants all in the kitchen so all the food had to go in the fridge. We brought a box of donuts that were full of ants the next morning.Renting a golf cart & chairs directly from Palmilla this year made things easier, I would definitely recommend doing that. Beware though, we left some of our belongings under our Palmilla umbrella while we went & had lunch and someone stole them.. It was only our two large boogie boards but the kids were bummed. :(Food at the Black Marlin was ehhhhh... Overpriced & overcooked. Lunch from Red's was good & having it delivered to the pool was very convenient.Overall, decent condo that could be awesome with a few repairs & upgrades.

Family weekend

Beautiful property! Plenty of room for 3 couples and 4 kiddos. The upstairs Living room with the built in bunk beds was the perfect space for the kids to have their own area. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful cold weekend

We had reserved this middle-unit townhouse for Valentine's Day weekend 2021. Little did we know that this weekend would mark the start of the Great Texas Freeze and Snowstorm of 2021. We had to leave a day early to make it back home before the Causeway bridge (accessing Padre and Mustang Island) was closed. Regardless, this townhouse was great. Three stories, bunk beds on the 3rd floor for the children. Beautiful, spacious kitchen. Excellent layout of bedrooms and bathrooms. Because there are no current homes between the townhouse and the water (yet), the views of the water from the 2nd and 3rd floors are fantastic. Only minor issue was with the master thermostat on the 2nd floor (which kept rebooting throughout the weekend), though the heat remained on. Hope to come back when it is warmer (and no snow or ice). This place will be wonderful in the summer with swimming and beach play. The Palmilla pool is less than a half-block away. The 2-car garage fit our two SUV's fine.
