The beach cabin at 90 Keystone Ave is well-appointed, cute, and fits the definition well of “beach cabin.” It’s just a few short steps to the beach and is effectively surrounded by water with a pond in the back and Admiralty Inlet on the other side of the street. We especially appreciated the views from the upstairs living room, well stocked kitchen with brand new pots, and comfort of the TV room and couches downstairs. There’s also a video-game console loaded with a number of vintage games which was a hit.
The small cabin needs a good end-of-peak-season cleaning to remove some stains on the carpet and furniture, and it feels cluttered in parts with knickknacks and an excess of furniture. There are a handful of battery-operated lights throughout the cabin, including an important one on the tricky spiral staircase that were all inoperable. We looked but didn’t see batteries to replace all of the depleted ones and we did a little cleaning at the end of our stay to help out. Again, most of these issues are likely because the cabin is in need of its end-of-season deep clean and service. -1 star.
One unpleasant experience is that after we agreed to the contracts in VBRO, paid 100% of our fees, and confirmed our reservation through VBRO, we were then unexpectedly contacted by a third-party property management firm and asked to sign yet ANOTHER contract that had new terms and provisions. This left a sour taste in our months, but a lawyer in our group explained that the additional contract was completely unenforceable since there was no additional “consideration” and we had already confirmed our reservation, agreed to the original terms and conditions on VBRO, and paid. -1 star for that experience which needs to be ended.
With a good cleaning and an end to the ridiculous “sign yet another contract” practice after you’ve booked and paid, this would be a cute 5-star cabin. It would be a beautiful property in the summer months, with a firepit and huge deck in the front.
