Our recent stay managed by Goldnest was disappointing. I contacted Goldnest about having additional guests & addressed all concerns before booking. I completely respect their rules & desire to maintain a standard of hosting responsible adults.
Our check-in time was 4 pm. Driving from Houston, we received a message about maintenance work scheduled to ensure a comfortable stay. We arrived at 6 pm to find workers inside, who requested we wait outside. Returned at 6:50 pm, to find house filled with a chemical smell, wet furniture & carpet, flies everywhere. Dead flies in windowsill, dead bugs smashed on the wall, broken furniture, nonworking TV & kitchen outlet. Trash outside overflowing, attracting more flies.
I reported the issues & received a prompt apology & offer of a nominal refund, citing the previous guests' mess. Our experience should not have been affected by prior renters. The one-hour delay in accessing the house, wet furniture & carpet made our first night unenjoyable. We spent the evening cleaning, removing dead bugs, buying bug spray, dealing with wasps' nests and unable to sit on furniture.
We arrived feeling stressed & frustrated. I requested a refund for the first night’s stay as we couldn't fully utilize the house. Although I received a small refund (not first night rent), our experience with Goldnest fell short, & I urge future renters to proceed with caution as they do not care about guest experience. We left the house in better condition than we found it.
