Rooms are in great condition. Very spacious and very high ceilings. The resort is very beautiful. Food is average for the price. The final day experience was not good at all. There seems to be so many people manning the concierge but no organization. Nobody seems to remember a very important instruction on the boat ride- to give the boat pass to the guard by the dock. This guard also failed to tell us about the boat pass. They transported us to the dock but not tell us that the boat ride was first come first served. When the boat arrived, it was logical for us to assume we could board the boat, the guard yelled at us and said it is first come first served!! They expected us to sit in there for another 2 hours to wait for the next boat. For a resort that is so expensive, why is the boat ride so disorganized? This is something that really needs improvement as it is the final experience.

The great: The facilities here are second-to-none, whether in the Philippines or almost anywhere around the world. Beautiful architecture, well maintained, clean, and well appointed. The pier is beautiful, and they have fast, high-quality, air-conditioned catamarans to transfer guests to and from Davao. We stayed in the Junior Suite, which is the entry-level room choice. I am 100% satisfied with the room appointments, furniture quality, bed comfort, bathroom functionality, and aesthetics. The view is fantastic from the balcony, and the air conditioning is great. Everything related to the room works properly and fits the decor. The room is very spacious with high ceilings and a nice ceiling fan. The staff is 100% fantastic and always friendly and outgoing. This is partly a Philippines thing, this is a country of friendly and happy people, but the staff here is even very friendly to each other, waving to peers when the opportunity presents itself. The food is generally fantastic, and there are multiple restaurants inside the resort. The BAD: 1. The internet is not good. Bandwidth is not adequate for volume of users. On the weekends it slows to almost a stop. 2. On our stay of 5 nights, 2 of the nights the bar was closed for private events. I feel I paid for use of the entire facility, and they denied access to a portion of it without my knowledge or agreement

Property is nice but not a lot of dining options. They should add a cafe with sandwiches and salad options if you want a lighter meal. My son broke a drinking glass inside the room and got charged $30 for it, outrageously expensive and I felt taken advantage of and robbed!

This property is par excellence; while accommodation cost is not within reach to an average Filipino worker, the quality of service and resort amenities was worth every penny you spend while staying in this resort on the island of Samal; I booked this resort for an overnight “staycation” with my brother and his partner; it was indescribably amazing spending quality time together to relax and strengthen the bond with family and loved ones; I will be saving again to return to this beautiful paradise!

Top notch experience. Ching, Steph and the rest of the staff were very helpful with our needs all throughout our stay. The resort was well maintained. Gym and spa was great. We dined to all 3 restaurants and enjoyed the different options offered. Highly recommend!

Our recent stay at Discovery Samal Resort fell short of expectations, especially for the premium rates they charge. Check-in Process: The entire check-in experience was disorganized. We had already completed check-in at the Davao waiting area before boarding the catamaran, so having to go through another full check-in upon arrival at the resort felt unnecessary and inconvenient. The process needs better coordination. Dining at Haribar: We had lunch at Haribar, but the food was honestly not tasty at all considering the price. For a resort positioning itself as luxury, the quality and flavor really need improvement. Service & Staff: The staff were polite, but the overall service didn’t match the luxury label. Even though our luggage was pre-tagged prior to boarding, we still had to bring our own bags to the room. This is something the resort team should handle. Privacy Concerns: One major issue is the lack of privacy. Certain areas of the resort—particularly near rooms and shared spaces—feel too exposed, and you don’t get that secluded or exclusive atmosphere expected from a high-end property. It affects the overall experience and sense of relaxation. Amenities: Basic recreational amenities like billiards should be complimentary. Charging extra for small activities doesn’t align with the upscale rates they’re asking. Overall Value: For the price we paid, the experience simply wasn’t worth it. It’s not cheap but you get what you paid for. Very hospital staff though you get looks if you are solo. Not a lot of people last Sept which i love. Free airport pick up and boat transfer. Outside food is not allowed unless you pay for corkage. Dining options are expensive and limited options. Overall, it was a nice experience.
