This house was lovely! The owner was personable and friendly, making the check-in and stay an easy and smooth process. The house was incredibly child friendly and dog friendly. The amenities in the house were exactly what we needed for our stay. Would highly recommend booking! My family is already talking about going back!

Being on a lake was a big hit from morning coffee on the balcony to endless canvassing the lake on the paddle board and funyak and then a campfire, this was extended family vaca at its best.

Lovely home

Lovely house on pond like lake. Rocky road to get there. Very quiet and surreal on wknds but loud truck traffic wkdays. Great amenities and clean.

West Virginia Wonderful

We thoroughly enjoyed our adventure in Davis, WV and the cabin was the perfect backdrop for it. The location was peaceful and the cabin had everything we needed. The kitchen was extremely well stocked, from dishes to pans to leftover containers and common spices. The railings on the deck allowed the dogs to enjoy hours outside and the gates at the stairs on the main level made it easy to keep them safe. The owner was a "10 out of 10" and I would absolutely recommend Bessie to anyone wanting to have their own WV adventure.

Great for a family with kids

This house was wonderful for our family gathering. It is fully equipped with everything, feels like home, and has such beautiful views on the lake. The bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of toys for our 18-month-old baby. We would definitely come back.

Bessie is the best!

We had an excellent stay during Thanksgiving week. The house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. Kitchen is super well equipped and made cooking thanksgiving dinner away from home a breeze. Dog friendly, too! Would love to visit again.

Fabulous family vacay at ‘Bessie’ in Davis

This was the perfect spot for my two grown children, their spouses and four grandchildren to join me for a few days in WV. ‘Bessie’ was extremely clean, spacious, well-appointed (complete with children’s toys and sporting equipment) AND comfortable. It is located in a beautiful area close to outdoor activities and conveniences. I really appreciated the host’s prompt responses to my questions. We all had a wonderful time and said we’d love to return. I highly recommend this beautiful property.

Awesome House

This house has all the amenities and very private. We all especially enjoyed having our own space. My family enjoyed the fishing and caught a few large mouth bass. They did say they wished there were some catfish as they are fun to catch. We would definitely recommend this property. Thank you to the hosts!!

Not able to fully relax…

The setting of the property was beautiful. The property itself was a little junky around the exterior. Interior was not very clean, floors were quite dirty. We weren’t able to fully relax due to active cameras (not disclosed) in the listing that were recording on the outside of the house/deck areas. We did ask the owner to disarm them during our stay which he did but then we were always wondering if there were any interior cameras. We did bring two dogs which the house was very accommodating for but with the home being on the lake there was goose poop everywhere. The house is in a great location, very quite neighborhood which was nice and overlooking a beautiful pond. It was also well stocked. If it weren’t for the lack of cleanliness and the active camera situation we would have absolutely loved our stay.

Bessie is the BEST!

Quiet and serene. Short drive to multiple parks and trails. This property's backyard is a lake which we had fun doing some fishing and catching some fish! Nightly sunset and stargazing! A complete hit with our family.

Beautiful View and Family Friendly

We really enjoyed our stay at Bessie! The host was super accommodating and allowed up to check in early after an early flight from Fl. We enjoyed the location which was near two ski resorts and plenty of hiking near Blackwater Falls. The view was gorgeous and the house had everything from toys for the kids to dog beds for the dogs. The host thought of everything!

Excellent West Virginia location

Beautiful scenery all around this home. Snow storm arrived shortly after we did. HVAC kept us very comfortable. Excellent location for year-round outdoor events.

Great Location on the Lake

House was very nice, with excellent views. The lake was beautiful and teaming with fish and geese. Hardwood floors were a bit dirty on the main floor, but everything else was clean. Owner was very responsive when contacted, and there was a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. I think it was the best house on the lake! We are looking at our calendars right now wanting to go back!

Perfect place to relax after a busy day of activities

Bessie is located in a beautiful and peaceful area on a lake in the mountains. The home is clean, well stocked and both dog and child- friendly. Lots of activities for all seasons nearby plus Blackwater Falls State Park and shopping in the quaint town of Davis. We were 8 adults and 2 dogs, all family but from multiple households. The main floor was great for meals and when we all wanted to be together. There was also ample space for quiet personal time. Plus a wall of windows and a deck on the lake side. It was everything we hoped for and plan to return. The owner was friendly and responded quickly to my questions. Your search is over—book it now 😁

My favorite place in Canaan Valley

This was such a great place to stay and wonderful hosts. The pictures really don't do it justice. Wonderful house, nice quiet area, great walks around the lake and across the farm. We came up for our kids' spring break, intending to ski at Canaan Valley and Timberline. Both closed for the week due to weather and we almost didn't want to come... We are so glad we did, it was a wonderful place to stay. This is my first choice for next ski season, and also if we were to come up for the summer. I'm a huge fan.
