Thank you for your feedback and I apologize for the confusion. I have looked at your reservation and can confirm that your rate was 139 as quoted, however there is additional taxes and fees. Please refer to your confirmation for the breakdown. I have confirmed your folio finalized at departure your exact rate quoted by Expedia including the rate plus taxes and fees. At arrival we authorize not charge for the anticipated room charge, taxes and fees, plus 50 for incidentals and security if you have additional charges such as purchases from our Treat Shop. When you checkout the final sale based on your folio balance is finalized with your your bank. At check-in as the hotel is just authorizing the transaction is pending on your account. When the final is submitted and processed it goes from pending to posted on your account to reflect your actual charges. By just presenting a credit card at arrival do not guarantee the funds are available. The hotel must authorize the anticipated charges to guarantee the funds are available. Hotels do authorize over the anticipated to cover any additional charges to your account. Some more than others from 25 to several hundred a day based on the trends of guests in that hotel. Full Service hotels with restaurants and lounges will authorize more. Hotels have had these procedures since electronic payment processing started. As hotels have open ended accounts from the time of check-in and checkout authorize more than anticipated unlike a retail merchant who authorizes the exact amount because the sale is final right away. Restaurants operate much like hotels authorizing over the amount to accommodate the guests likelihood to add on a tip.
