The Capitol House-East Village/Downtown, King Bed

  • Located on the Southern edge of East Village, The Capitol House is walking distance or quick drive to everything downtown Des Moines has to offer! You can pick up the river path at the end of our block and it’s under a mile to Principle Park, Farmer’s market, East Village shopping and Court Ave food/drinks. Enjoy a view of the Capitol Building from the front yard or cross the street to enjoy the Disc golf course, park and splash pad with your kids or furry family members!

    All 3 bedrooms and the full bath are located upstairs. The downstairs is spacious with an open kitchen, dining room and living room. The half bath is on the first-level, just off the entry way.

    Guests have private access to the entire house, including the front yard, driveway and back patio/yard.

Great stay!

A nice, clean home that was perfect for a girls night in. Location was great and I appreciated all the small touches (chargers, fans in all the rooms) that made for a great stay. Would stay again!

Relaxing

We had a relaxing time while visiting Des Moines for my nieces graduation. Everything flowed very nicely. The location was nice and quiet and the home was very inviting!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

We drove up for a baseball game with family and rather all staying in separate hotel rooms we chose to get a house that could accamodate all of us! This house was the perfect fit for us! They even provided toys for our littles { 4, 2, 1, and infant} We truly loved it! Will definitely be visiting again!

Lovely House

House was clean and had everything we needed. The area outside is a bit loud from traffic and the park but it was quite peaceful inside so didn’t bother us. Worked perfectly for what we needed.

Perfect location

We stayed with a larger group with the intention of having privacy of a home and being close to downtown. This was great. Very clean. Host very responsive. Easy check in and check out. Stocked very well. Thank you!

Weekend in des moines

We enjoyed the location… everything was close and easy to get to. The house was spacious and comfortable, easy driveway parking and close access to restaurants, bike trails, and fun things to do. The host was awesome about responding quickly and made checking in and out very easy. The city of Des Moines was a really pleasant surprise for us. Loved seeing so many people outside walking, running, biking, and playing with their families.

Property was fine. Neighborhood not the best, but no issues. Living room furniture was not as pictured and couches were not as comfortable as they could have been. Everything was extremely clean. Hot water temperature was extremely hot, be very careful when showering and do not leave kids in the tub unsupervised. Beds were comfortable.

Rooms are big and clean, backyard was overgrown and unkept. Ant issue in the kitchen which was communicated. Across the street from a park with a water feature for children and easy access to a running and bike path along the river. Lingering smell of nicotine in the house.

Nice house

We enjoyed the house will definitely come back. We loved all the fun game option for us to play and how you had a good amount of items stocked for us. The backyard was so cute with the little bar would recommend a fire pit wld of made that area. Only issue we had was one of the TV upstairs wasnt working properly so they just watched movies. Will use again for iowa state fair.

This house is in a perfect location. Beds are really comfortable, the half bath downstairs really convenient. There is huge park across the street that would be perfect for little kids and the trail along the river is only a few hundred feet from the front door. We sat on the patio every morning for coffee, it would have been nice to have cushions on the furniture but there is plenty of seating. neighborhood is really quiet. This is an old house, take that into consideration. If you are looking for a brand new, modern rental this is not it. However, it fit our needs and we would stay again.

Great experience

We took a weekend trip from Kansas City to Des Moines. There were seven adults and a toddler. The Capitol House was perfect. It was clean and there was plenty of room for all of us. The host was readily available if we had any questions. The house had all the basic necessities, plus quite a few extra amenities- such as tvs in each room with streaming services, lots of DVDs, children’s toys and a grill. Plus there were plenty of towels and toilet paper. We loved that there was a splash pad and playground literally across the street. It was perfect for my 3 year old grandniece to burn some energy. The house was super close proximity to downtown, but still located in a quiet neighborhood. 10/10 would recommend.

Great communication with the property manager! Very close and easy to get to the fairgrounds and downtown! House was very clean and comfy beds! Park right across the street-pack your frisbees for frisbee golf!

Weekend Getaway

Super cute house inside! Our group had 6 adults & and suited us well. Appreciate that there were plenty of towels/washcloths and a portable fan in each bedroom! Much better stay than a hotel room. Thank you!!
