There was major construction in the unit above us. There was no warning or notice of the work. On our second morning we were awakened to the sound of hammering and drilling. The floors were being chiseled/scraped and removed, and replaced with new tile. The remainder of our trip we had the sound of construction morning until evening. At some points the noise was so loud we could not even hear each other speak over it.
To make the situation worse, the weather was bad, so we were unable to go to the beach or pool due to the rain. We were stuck sitting in the room listening to the noise. No relaxing, or watching a movie, or playing a game. Just noise and rain. The owner of the unit where the work was being done was extremely rude and could care less. I was given the number of the onsite property manager by the janitor, but the manager never returned my call. The rental company, Vacasa, was no help either. They said they had no notice from the owner or property manager of the work, and there was nothing they could do for me. I was told if they construction occurred before 8:00 am or after 8:00 pm, I was welcomed to call the sheriff. I don't understand how the condo HOA allows major renovations during peak season and with no prior notice.
Also, the washers and dryers which are not in the unit and are coin operated, one of the dryers did not work. I dried towels for 2 hours and then realized this. The kitchen was not well equipped, there were few pots and pans. The one large pot (5 qt.) had the handle broken, making it difficult to use. We have stayed up and down the Alabama /Florida coast for over 25 years. This was not the worst but it was far from the best. I will not be staying here again.
