Perfect!!

Absoultely beautiful place and location! Plenty of room for the family to spread out and have their own space and then all come together for meals and just hanging together. Even the 1yr old grandkid did well! Any communication we needed with the host received a prompt replied to and the one issue was immediately remedied.Definitely plan to come back for another family get together in the future!

Awesome place for a family or business retreat.

We had a family reunion at Holbrook Farms Retreat and everyone loved the house with great rooms, a sauna and kayak and paddle boats on a quiet lake. Highly recommended.

Wonderful location for cousin reunion

Beautiful and peaceful and spacious for reunion of cousins for a weekend. The property is gorgeous and beautifully appointed, overflowing with a feeling of warmth and home-like atmosphere. Beautiful view. So many special touches. Ample space for kids and adults to visit and play and eat and gather.

Great space for family gathering

The property is absolutely beautiful! The house is large and was very clean. I asked many questions prior to arrival and all were answered timely which I so appreciated! Would definitely recommend!!

Peaceful getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely retreat/home. The house is well appointed and very equipped. Communication was also perfect. More importantly, we really appreciate the mission behind it - we are so grateful to know our stay benefits others who are so worthy of the retreat experience. It's a double blessing for us.

FAMILY REUNION

We enjoyed everything about the home! We had lots of space for our reunion and communication was quick. The only complaint was the weather---but even that wasn't so bad when we had lots of spaces for gathering, cooking, reading, jigsaw puzzling, and everything! :) Thank you!

15 through 82yrs old - ALL HAPPY!

Winter family gathering perfection! Large kitchen, dining, living area for cooking together, eating as a family, watching sports, and playing games. Bedrooms are on lower level so teenage / college student napping was never disturbed. Beautiful walking trails through property. Very clean. Every family member loved our stay here!

Great place to stay

Great location, beautiful property, perfect amount of space in the house for all of us! Really enjoyed our time!! The only tip is to change the signs in the house on the check out time to be consistent with VRBO of 10am. Signs in house say 11am and cleaners showed up at 10am. Would definitely stay here again!!

Fun place

Wonderful place! Just a hard time climbing the hill from the lake. Husband never went down to the lake because he knew he would have trouble getting back up.

Excellent family get away

Holbrook farms had everything we needed, space to spread out and play games and wonderful gathering places in the large kitchen/dining area and the large deck. The yard was an enjoyable challenge for our bocce ball game and Bags that we brought along. The sightings of deer and loons added a special northern Minnesota touch.

Beautiful retreat.

We had a lovely weekend as a family. We enjoyed the beautiful spacious home, the peaceful sunsets, full moon and hiking trails. We love the ministry that this home provides to our veterans and their families. Some things that would have made our stay even more relaxing would have been a hall tree to hang our coats in place of the grandfather clock by the door, having the lightswitches labeled so that we didn't have to try them all to figure out which one was for which lights, and having the kitchen more organized. We also needed to have a maintenance person come and repair a leak coming from the refridgerator and fix the furnace. The first night we were without heat in the older part of the house. I share these things only to help make this already beautiful and peaceful spot even more relaxing.

Peaceful retreat

Amazing! Main floor has a beautiful kitchen, step down living space, extra large dining room table, and 1/2 bathroom. Basement houses:-King master bedroom with two walk-in closets, washer and dryer and a large shower. -Small sitting area outside of master bedroom with a tv and piano! -Hallway leads to two bedrooms with 2-twin beds in each room with large closets!-Additional living space contains a couple of sitting areas as well as three steps leading up to a bedroom with four twin beds as well as a full bathroom and sauna room. Seamlessly connected to the above living space the owners attached another previously built cabin with includes another smaller kitchen, a full bathroom with another washer & dryer set as well as a sitting area and a bedroom that has two twin beds. Lowest level of the house has a workout room-we did not use A quick 15 minute drive and you can be in DL for needed groceries, etc. Pro tip: If master bedroom gets warm at night, close door to the bathroom and leave the door to the sitting area open! Many areas to walk around and we saw four deer wandering around the property every day. Highly recommended for groups or families with adult children! Thank you for the memories made. Everyone enjoyed their time and verbalized they would love to return again!

Beautiful property, wifi is off and on, kitchen cooktop stove was iffy, bath towels were sparse and small. But overall was great. We did have to kill alot of asian beetles!!

The setting and grounds were lovely as was the house itself. There is nice separation between social areas upstairs and sleeping areas downstairs. The support staff responded to a request to check a smoke alarm within minutes and returned with supplies we mentioned were in short supply. Already planning our next visit.

The great get together

Wonderful spacious property. The sleep area is a sufficient distance from the kitchen, living room area so that kids napping are not disturbed. The management was very prompt fixing a gas grill. We will make this a yearly tradition!

Party of 15 fit comfortably

This was our second time staying at the property with this size group and accommodates 15 great. The house is clean and stocked with almost everything you need. Very thankful they allowed an early check in for us. The property is large and great to spread out and play yard games or go for walks. We saw pictures of a fire pit for the deck area (& used it in our first stay) but couldn't find it so didnt get to spend much time outdoors outside of afternoon time due to large amounts of mosquitos. Only recommendations/comments I'd share is it would be a huge improvement of the waterfront area was raked, spray for bugs? The paddle boards were great but the small lake front is completely full of weeds that you don't want to actually get in the water. Was like that for both of our visits. Do know that it is more of an large pond so there is no fish to be caught. Only reasons we must likely won't return. Too small of lake and could definitely be cleaned up to enjoy the water.

Great getaway

The retreat was everything we needed! It was spacious enough for 11 of us, with plenty of extra room. The weather finally straightened out and we enjoyed a lot of time on the deck. Overall this was a great spot for a girls weekend getaway! Thank you!
