    Este granero se construyó en 2015 como «Kemp's Carriage House Loft Rental» y está situado justo al lado de nuestra casa de madera «Kemp's Portage Lake Log Home Rental» (VRBO: #487326 ) y de la casa de invitados «Kemp's Lake Front Guest House» (VRBO: #2225832 ). ¡Si alquilas las 4 propiedades, caben grupos de hasta 50 personas!

    Este alojamiento también está justo enfrente del lago Portage y goza de una ubicación ideal cerca de todos los emocionantes eventos especiales, atracciones y actividades de ocio de la península de Keweenaw.     La planta principal de este alojamiento la usa el propietario como trastero. La zona de alquiler del loft cuenta con tres dormitorios, tres baños con duchas a ras de suelo alicatadas y una sauna. Tiene camas para dieciséis personas, perfecto para una reunión familiar o un grupo grande. También incluye una cocina completa, un sistema de sonido envolvente, así como lavadora y secadora. La cocina, muy bien diseñada, junto con una barbacoa de carbón exterior, facilita la tarea de cocinar a quienes prefieran comer en casa en lugar de salir. Se proporcionan todas las ollas, sartenes, vajilla, toallas y sábanas. ¡Solo tienes que traer tus productos de consumo!

    Muchos de los objetos antiguos que hay en el loft los hemos conseguido en nuestra zona. Los materiales de construcción del interior se recuperaron de antiguos graneros y edificios. El revestimiento de chapa ondulada del techo interior y de algunas paredes procede de la fábrica de madera de Ford en Pequaming. (Esta fábrica suministraba madera local para la construcción de los coches Ford Modelo T y A fabricados en los años 20 y 30). Para el suelo se utilizó «madera dura recuperada» de más de 100 años de antigüedad. Las paredes interiores también están acabadas con madera recuperada.

    Se ha incorporado mucha historia local a la decoración de esta vivienda de alquiler. Algunos objetos proceden de la fábrica de Atlas Powder, que antes se encontraba en las 1400 acres situadas detrás de la propiedad. También hay muchas herramientas de tala, algunas de más de 100 años de antigüedad.

    Todo esto da como resultado un espacio amplio y cómodo con un ambiente muy acogedor.

Great venue for our group of 14 to eat and enjoy time together in the common area, well supplied kitchen for a large group. Our group ranged in age from 3moths to 62. Heads up there are stairs to access the unit. Loved the architecture/design that carried throughout. Kids enjoyed hanging out down at the Portage. Well situated for CC cruising or houghton/hancock. Host was great, responsive. We were here to celebrate an MTU graduation. We would be back whenever we have a large group.

Great base for MTBing the UP.

Been renting properties for large groups for last 20 years, this property and the adjoining property were the nicest we have ever experienced. That along with the use of the lakeside pavilion and fire pit made this property top notch.

Great Spot!

We rented the property for a family wedding. There were 6 adults and we all were very impressed with the cleanliness of the property. The view down by the water was beautiful! I would highly recommend this property to anyone and everyone :).

Amazing up north adventure

Kemp’s Rentals was great. Everything was as listed. We met with the owners and they are very friendly and helpful. We recommend this place if you have a large group. We will stay here again if our travels ever bring us this far north.

It was very clean. An amazing place to spend time with the family. I gave the neighborhood one less star because crossing the road to get to the lake was a bit nerve wracking. Cars go by VERY fast. Just make sure you wait on the side if you near a car coming. Otherwise A great spot.

Awesome place!!!

We had so much fun at Tech’s winterfest and the place is a great location, easy to get to. Fully stocked kitchen with all the hardwear and cooking wear. Very clean!!!

Multi Family Weekend Stay

This property was perfect for our stay with our extended family! We had three families, two with children and the arrangement of the rooms and bathrooms made for a comfortable stay for all. The kitchen is well equipped and table seating let us feed our large group easily. Super cozy lodge to hang out in and play games, watch football, visit. Great proximity to campus for the MTU basketball games (Go Huskies!). And easy to access hikes to the north (Hungarian Falls). Will definitely stay many more times!

Fantastic 4th!

We were in the UP for an extended family vacation and had an amazing stay at the Kemp's Loft Rental! Rental was exactly as described, clean, and had anything and everything one could need while there. Great communication from owners. All the kids (ages 5-17) loved the bunk room. We all loved the amenities by the lake! Private location, but close to MTU and the Keweenaw. Would definitely stay again!

Even better than we expected!!

Our stay at Kemps Loft/carriage house was very enjoyable. Although the outdoor pavilion and waterfront area are shared with two of the other guest houses on the property, we didn't have any trouble sharing. The lake was very clean and not nearly as cold as we expected. The waterfront pavilion and outdoor kitchen were well set up and a great way to spend time near the water. They had 2 paddle boards and 2 kayaks down by the lake plus boards for corn hole (not a full set of bags though, so maybe bring your own!). The house was well stocked with almost everything we needed (in some cases, more than we expected - like the sauna!). Be aware that the entrance does contain a long flight of shallow stairs (33 steps). It was setup really well for a large group and we had an amazing time!

Magical Christmas Getaway

We decided to do a destination Christmas this year for us and our adult children. Ideally we wanted a winter wonderland with lots of snow and a cozy place to enjoy our time together. Our Dollar Bay Barndominium was perfect. The place was right out of a magazine with open but inviting spaces and plenty of room for all 10 of us. We were there 12/23 - 12/26 and had a magical Christmas morning with a giant breakfast cooked in the amazing kitchen and plenty of time sharing gifts and making unforgettable memories. The place was clean and meticulously maintained. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook all our meals and the beds were super comfy. We didn't use any of the outdoor spaces or go to the lake due to a blizzard and constant snowing. We would love to visit in the summer time to be able to experience the ambiance of the lake pavilion. If you're looking for a winter wonderland Houghton is the place to be.

The Perfect Vacation

Upper Michigan is our favorite place to vacation - Sandy and Dan's Carriage House was the very first cabin/house rental of many we stayed, that was more beautiful and very accurate with the online pictures. Gorgeous house with all the comforts of home. Although we did; we did not need to leave the premises to enjoy our vacation. The Lake-Beach-Firepit and Pavillion were the perfect place to hang out, swim, enjoy water sports, play games, grill food and just relax in the fresh air while in or out of the sun. When we come back to The Keewenaw, we will for certain be looking at staying with the Kemps again!

Beautiful

Loved the living space and the beautiful location. Kids went swimming every day and played corn hole. Nothing to complain about except I expected the whole place to be air conditioned and only the main living area had air. The bedrooms were hot unless the nights cooled off. There were enough fans for each room and each also had ceiling fans.
