    Welcome to the stunning Needle Mountain Chalet, nestled in a picturesque valley in Colorado, just a brief 5-minute drive from the Purgatory/Durango Mountain Ski Resort. Situated on an expansive five-acre property adorned with Aspen trees and Colorado Blue Spruce, this all-season vacation home offers easy access to Highway 550. The Chalet boasts approximately 4,000 square feet of space, featuring four bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and accommodations for up to 10 guests. Every window and each of the spacious decks offer breathtaking views of the Needle Mountain Range, which rises to over 14,000 feet. The back of the house faces the awe-inspiring Hermosa Cliffs, with the magnificent Castle Rock soaring almost 2,000 feet above the Chalet. Whether you're gazing out from the master bedroom, main living room, loft living room, dining room, or front deck, the ever-changing and dramatic vistas are a sight to behold. The Chalet's interior is equally impressive, featuring a large living and dining area, a professional-grade kitchen, and a dining room that comfortably seats guests with an ample supply of dishes. The decks are equipped with cozy seating and patio heaters, perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes in the hot tub with a view of the Hermosa Cliffs. Wireless internet access is available throughout the house, and the phone service includes unlimited long-distance calling within the USA. During the winter months, the heated floors and central heating, equipped with an air cleaner and humidifier, ensure a comfortable stay. In the rare event of a power outage, a backup generator automatically activates to maintain a warm and cozy atmosphere for guests. An elevator is provided with access from the garage to the main floor. Additionally, the Chalet's dog-friendly policy welcomes your furry companions as part of the family, providing amenities such as a dog bed, a secure gate in the laundry room, and food and water dishes. In addition to the fantastic amenities, the Chalet offers immediate access to skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, golfing, and a variety of outdoor activities. Amidst the beauty of the Rockies, you can bask in solitude and relaxation, making your stay at the Chalet a true Rocky Mountain High experience.

    This home is dog friendly. Approved Dogs are allowed with a non-refundable fee per pet based on size/type. Please let us know about your pet(s) when inquiring or making your reservation. My family and I loved this house. The views are breath taking and the house has everything you can imagine. We really enjoyed the outdoors, the fire pit and all the heaters came in handy at night. The hot tub was a nice addition to relax in. I was happy to have all the kitchen utensils and cookware needed! The home is beautiful and beds were comfortable. I’d love to come back.

Beautiful House

We loved every square inch of this stunning house. It was clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable! This house is much more and much more beautiful than the description showed. We loved the large dining room and convenience of the several dish washers to do dishes for our group of 11.

Family Vacation

The location and house are awesome. We had a real nice time exploring Colorado. The house was plenty big enough, many more supplies than have ever encountered, and wonderful views. Only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because we pay a cleaning fee however, the house was dusty, and lots of pet hair. We had to move a couch and hair was under it as well as a paper from June. Lots of hair under the tv table in family room. Besides that it was a definite nice house and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Worth every penny!!!

We stayed a Needle Mountain Chalet from December 23-31. There was 9 of us total (two families) and plenty of room for everyone. Last year we rented a house down the highway. It slept all of us, but there was not enough space for the kids to hang out, watch tv, etc without it feeling like we were on top of each other. The kids had the upstairs. The loft is a great place for them to hang out and watch tv. They slept on the fold out couch and we used the E-Z beds (2) for two more kids in the loft. Our oldest was in the queen bedroom upstairs by himself. The living area, kitchen and dining room are very large and plenty of sitting for everyone. This place is stocked! We never ran out of towels or dishes. They have every cooking appliance you need-- plus some that you always wanted to try and wouldn't buy for yourself. I felt spoiled the entire trip. Did I mention....heated floors. Sue Holland was so easy to work with. She helped us plan our trip, told us where to rent ski equipment for a discount, and her binder at the house gave a ton of information about local restaurants etc. The house was decorated for Christmas inside and out. Sue and Gwen (property manager) definitely made our trip special. Our whole crew would recommend staying at this home. You will NOT be disappointed!

great stay over spring break!

We had an amazing stay over spring break! Great location with a 3 minute drive to the base of the mountain. The road to the house was nice and manicured to get to the house, but if there was a snow storm or during the winter you would definitely need snow chains or tires. The road is uphill. The house was very clean and had enough space. We loved the large dining table and the kitchen was stocked with everything you could ever need! The front porch and back porch were great hang out spaces with heaters after a long day. A great stay for sure. We would definitely book this house again!

Absolutely Stunning

This is one of the most beautiful vacations homes that we have ever stayed in. The location was excellent in close proximity to Purgatory ski resort and just a short drive to Durango. The home is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need from an abundance of kitchen appliances, utensils, pots and pans and so much more. The beds are a bit firm, but comfortable and the pillows were a bit soft for our taste but that’s truly the only negative we could find. It was a wonderful place to stay and the outdoor amenities were superb. I would highly recommend this home for your next stay. Absolutely Stunning.

The pictures don’t do this place justice! The views are amazing and the place is overly equipped with everything you could think of! *no joke about the 4x4 requirement, we had 1 suv with rear wheel drive and chains and was not able to make it up the driveway.

Great family retreat

Property far exceeded what was detailed on line. Excellent location close to Purgatory Resort. Bit of a drive to Durango, but totally manageable. House is stunning and better equipped than any vacation rental we have previously occupied. Easy check in. Would absolutely rent again

Beautiful property and views

We rented this property during our kids’ Spring Break and it was perfect! The home was beautiful and came equipped with everything one might need. Our kids loved that they each had a room to themselves and there is plenty of space to enjoy together or break away for some quiet time. The location of the home is great. We were only a 5-6 drive to Purgatory Resort for skiing, which made for a very easy drive back to the house after full days at the resort to cook dinner and relax. Needle Mountain Chalet will definitely be our choice to stay any time we visit Durango in the future!

Needle Chalet 1 mi from Purgatory

This is a great house located super close to Purgatory... I imagine the hiking/lakes/views are just as great in the Summer, too. It was perfect for our groups ski trip and communication with property management was quick and easy. Did I mention the view? We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Home, Excellent Location

This home is spacious, open, well-appointed, and very conveniently located. It only takes a few moments to get to Purgatory each morning and the drive to Durango is also easy and convenient. The home was very well stocked with essentials and staple items. We actually brought along way too many extras that weren't needed. The large dining room and open kitchen are perfect for gatherings and lovely evenings as a group. The open areas outdoors were also perfect for the kids to enjoy some sledding. The only caution I have is for drivers. Everyone in our party drives 4wd trucks. If there is any snow do not attempt the driveway without chains in addition to 4wd. The signs on the property all indicate you need 4wd or snow chains, but we had several scary incidents when traveling up the drive with the only 4wd. The snow gets very deep, packed, and slippery. A man at the property to shovel off the decks told us that people always have trouble with the driveway during storms and often slip off the road. He said this house in particular has trouble because of the steep drive. That would not keep me away from this wonderful property and if we were ever in the area again we would absolutely stay here! Just be cautious and chain up, even with 4wd. Don't hesitate to book this amazing home for your next trip. Peaceful, beautiful, and just perfect!

Perfect Porch

Such a beautiful house! Very comfortable for two families, a couple kiddos and a dog. Favorite part was the front porch w/ stunning mountain views. Even in winter, it was very cozy with the heaters turned on. Although there wasn't quite enough snow for my taste, Purgatory ski area is 5 min away, which makes this a perfect home base for a ski trip for out of towners. Overall, very pleased with the stay!

Spacious and Beautiful

My fiance and I recently stayed at Needle Mountain Chalet with a few friends and let me start by saying, you will not be let down! The home was very spacious, clean, and well decorated. The kitchen was large, and stocked with every cookware item imaginable. The towels were plentiful. The master bathroom was large and luxurious. Every detail was thought of in this home. There are incredible views in every room that just take your breath away. We will definitely be back!

I would agree with another review... The pictures don't do the house justice at all! We were very impressed and enjoyed our stay. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and the views off the front deck are spectacular. The flow of the house is awesome and the back deck and hot tub were tucked away nice in the back. Very nice property and the small details were handled very well. Location relative to the ski area was perfect, I don't think the heater even had time to warm up the drive was so short!! Great attention to detail in the house including the furniture, decorations and layout. You won't be disappointed!

Exceeded All Expectations!!!!

This home was amazing, the photos available do not show how large and beautiful the house is. The home has an open floor plan with gorgeous views. When we arrived we were greeted by the housekeeper who provided some goodies (Snacks, emergency, Advil, etc.) The homeowner also keeps the home stocked with plenty of sheets, blankets, and towels. All of which came in handy when traveling with a group of 10 people. We were all so impressed and pleased with the home it has become a favorite property of all the homes we have rented on VRBO! Cannot wait to go back!

Rented this home based on the views for our vow renewal. Ceremony was on the back porch w/the aspen grove in background. Wonderful for entertaining and slept 10 very comfortably. Great for photography too. Fun sledding and all the amenities were wonderful. Pantry was well stocked. Owner is very friendly and had good tips. 2 miles from ski resort.

Unbelievable Find!

My family rented Needle Mountain Chalet for 5 days at Thanksgiving 2013. This is one of the nicest properties we have ever rented. The owner is very organized and provided very informative information prior to arrival. The property was huge, spotless and had every modern convenience you would want. We absolutely loved the large comfortable bedrooms with nice bathrooms; we used the fireplaces every night! The property has amazing amenities, including things like spices, Kleenex, shampoo, conditioner, cotton balls, etc. There was even different types of bath crystals for the HUGE master bath tub. I would definitely stay again!

Post New Year Hibernation/Relaxation

We chose to vacation a week after the New Year in Durango, CO for some Rest and Relaxation in a comfortable setting during snowy bliss. We got lucky and found availability in an exceptional winter home in Hermosa Cliffs. The Holland home was definitely more than what we could have asked for, no exagerration. While there are winter activities to take advantage of here, the Holland home makes it difficult to want to leave it for a minute. Beautiful snow capped mountain and aspen tree views from every room to go along with everything you could need or want during your stay; the amenities listed are spot on. We took advantage of a great kitchen to cook, eat, drink and be merry, and cozy up to the fireplaces each day. The only thing left for us to say is "Gracias" and can't wait to be back again.
