“Lovely pub , rooms very clean ,great staff, the only problem was when we booked this stay it said they served food , when we arrived & asked about this we was told they’d stop serving food a few months ago ,if I’d known this I would have booked somewhere that did this service, also it would have been nice for them to let us no about this change so I could have found somewhere else I think they need to update there site !!!! ”

“The room was clean and comfortable but the building is very old and the toilet/plumbing makes a noise every 30 minutes or so, all through the night, even if you don't flush it. We also had noisy neighbours, the walls are very thin! I didn't get much sleep the first night and we had a wedding to go to the next day so it wasn't ideal. Bring earplugs. No WiFi. More positively, staff were lovely, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great, you get a lot included in the room rate - tea, coffee,...

“Easy check in and room was lovely. Dinner and breakfast were very good Cons - couldn’t connect to WiFi and no phone service with my network. Hot tub wasn’t warm or powerful enough. Would have stayed in longer if it had of been the case ”

“The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was made with fresh produce,the portions were of an adequate size and it was very tasty. The room was well equipped, the only criticism would be a full length mirror in the room would be benificial and you could not fit your legs beneath the dressing table as the chair was too high. In the en-suite the toilet seat was loose and some discolouration of of the plastic seal at the bottom of the glass shower screen. The carpets in the accommodation...

“Very comfy beds. Clean, light room and friendly staff. Tea and coffee available in the room . The karioke downstairs stopped at 11pm which was fine and we slept well. We could have done with some towel hooks or a rail and a few instructions like how to turn on the radiator and what to do with the key when we left ( we worked those things out in the end !)”

“The Hen House cottage was a great place to stay for our trip in the Durham area. The village of Brandon is a beautiful location for going for walks in the countryside and with a great pub/ restaurant called the Bay Horse Inn on 50m away it’s a perfect place to stay. The village is very close to the historic house, chapels and gardens of Ushaw and Brancepeth Castle, which are both excellent places to visit!! Would happily stay here again when visiting the area as it’s a perfect little...
